: Progress Pic
WhippledHD 06-24-2005, 01:44 PM Just thought I'd share a progress pic of the new truck
http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data/500/5495progress-med.JPG
About 1/2 way done now. Next week it goes back in for the new shock hoops and Kings. Also got the door handles on order and I have to put the billet grille and bowtie on this weekend.
Slowly but surely,
Chris
Lookin good!!
I am planning to do the same myself, but unsure if I want a 9 or a 6-8..
LB needs a 8-9+ lift.. cause of the wheel base, and to fit 37+ tires
But I drag race so a 9 would totally kill my times and stability
6" is too low for an LB in my opinion..
WhippledHD 06-24-2005, 05:06 PM Nice numbers cid. I agree the 6 is too small on the LB's. Almost looks small on my truck. Those 37 will definately hurt your times. They'll look good though. I didn't notice a huge diff with 35's as far getting going but I can feel them from 55mph up for sure.
_nar_ 06-24-2005, 09:45 PM Looks good. So far any major differences in how the cst feels compared to the rcd, or did they handle about the same?
5thgeartapped 06-25-2005, 12:45 AM Looks good man, its just starting lol
Big Angry 06-25-2005, 12:39 PM Nice truck!

doughboy 06-25-2005, 08:02 PM Looks good. Who is doing the lift? I am in SoCal also and am on the fence between RCD and the CST.
John
JhnZ71 06-25-2005, 10:42 PM Lol nice looking truck
WhippledHD 06-27-2005, 10:18 AM Thanks guys I'm pretty happy with the lift so far. I am especially impressed with the tires, Toyo MT's. They are supper quiet and don't grab every bump in the road. I think some of that has to do with the CST steering set-up. I only have a used set of Rancho 5000's on there for now to hold me over until the Kings are ready. I think the steering is the only real noticable difference between the RCD and CST so far beside the truck sitting at least an inch higher. The RCD was about 5" of lift this one is a hair over 6", I didn't crank the t-bars but if I did I could easily get another inch out of the front.
The main install was by my buddy Jason, he owns Rancho Motorsports in Ontario, where the 15 and 10 Fwy meet. 909-390-9722, give him a call. He does great work but the truck is heading over to SoCal Supertrucks for the shock hoops and King shocks, there a liitle more than Jason's shop wants to do. Besides, the fabricator over at SoCal is one of the best and I want to get this right the first time.
Thanks again and I'll hopefully post the finished pick next week,
Chris Mock
Burnin Mad Max 06-30-2005, 01:02 AM Congrat's! It's looking like a real truck now.):h

WhippledHD 07-07-2005, 05:32 PM Here's some updated pics. Almost done. Got the King's and hoops on, just need to build the trac bars w/airbags, get the compressor and tank mounted, painted handles and the stereo upgraded.

3500dmax 07-08-2005, 01:56 AM Great looking truck WhippledHD! If I were to lift my truck I'd do exactly what you have done...6" CST, single shock from the hoop to lower control arm and so on but I built my last truck similar and know exactly how much money you invested in your suspension and shocks...enough to make me not do it again :shootself
ZR1160 07-08-2005, 07:57 AM Do you find the back end of the your truck getting dirty, with the exhaust set up like that?

No not so far. But it's only be a few days. Actually going in to take off the Banks exhaust.....my EGT's actually went up with it over the stock exhaust:eek:
Not sure what's going on but I got it up to 1400!!!!! Today pushing hard on the freeway. NO GOOD so time to pull it and figure out what went wrong.
Anybody got any ideas????
Chris
8.1GASSER 07-08-2005, 05:41 PM Wow WhippledHD, thats coming along very nicely...whats the stroke on those Kings? and hows it ride? with the deavers and all?
8.1
WhippledHD 07-08-2005, 05:54 PM Thanks guys for the kind words. The truck rides great. Not 100% sure but I think the shocks are 10" stroke, more than I need but they sure look nice:D . Still doesn't like the freeway gaps but it's a lot better than stock. The little bumps like lane marker and street cracks are gone and it handles the big stuff great. Definately the nicest ride I've ever had in a Chevy truck except mabye for my buddies with the same set-up and bypass shocks.

Burnin Mad Max 07-09-2005, 05:21 PM My only gripe about the Foxes (for the $$$) is here in NorIll the corosion they're suffering from and being brutalized by thanks to the winter salt. The ride is great though.

How much did you spend on your lift and wheel and tire set up if you don't mind me asking? I am planning on doing something real similar within the next week or so.

Tires and wheels = $2500
Lift and install = $2700
Shocks and hoops were extra :D
