I have a PPE Excelerator on the way and I keep reeding about it having a transmission reset option. What exactly is a trans reset? Why would I need it?

The allison trans is a smart transmission. It needs to learn how much power is going to it. If you do a relearn it will learn faster and shift better.

Thanks, It came in today. $449 from Aligator. free over night shipping. Just downloaded new program. Runs like spotted ape. Hope it will increase fuel milage.

I just got one in last Wednesday and still trying to adjust to the extra power by not romping down on it every chance I get. I can definitely tell it's getting better mileage even with my foot in it all the time. Once I get used to keeping my foot out of it i'll post how much i'm getting.

Sounds promising. I look forward to seeing what your results are.

I got the PPE Economy tuner about 2 weeks ago. I set the tune at level 1. I got 17.7 MPG combined freeway and city (this is also after leving kit and 285-75-16 tires). The last time I check my MPG was on a trip to Tahoe and I got 18.6 MPG (that was pre leveling kit and with 265-75-16 and all freeway). I love the power but I am not sure about the fuel milage increase. I know that the larger tires tend to reduce milage a bit. I wonder if the level 2 would provide better fuel milage. Anyone else have some results to post?

I just made a 800 highway trip driving 75 mph and hand calculated 20 mpg. The tune is on level 3. The computer said I was getting 25 mpg but it is way off.

I have mine on level 2. On a 5 hour trip with cruise set at 60MPH on the highway I got 19MPG combined, hand calculated. This was an improvement of 2.5-3MPG.

Try levels 2-4 (if you are not towing). They tend to get better mileage if you can keep your foot out of it... 2-3 MPG increase in the norm.

I recently towed an 11,000 lb trailer doing 65 with PPE on level 1 and got 11.40 mpg while running a 6" lift & 35's. That's over double the mileage I got pulling the same trailer with my previous truck that had the Vortec 454, which by the way is no comparison to the Duramax.

427this Looks like you might need to set up your tire size and rear end gear ratio on your tuner if your miliage calculator is that far off from your hand calc. You may not be driving as fast as you think.
