For those of You who have the W/T Grille setup with the 5X7 H6054 Sealed beam bulbs, Has anyone done the conversion to have a new housing with a replaceable bulb instead of replacing the Whole assembly? I have found a few kits and heard good and bad things about just about all them. I just want a plug and play style deal, I don't want to get into wiring.. Any thoughts on manufacturers making this kit?

I Found a Hella Kit here

youll find tons of them on ebay...when i had my blazer with sealed beams, i converted them to the type you posted only they were Hella Free Forms, and i put HIDs in them, they could light a city up the projection and accuracy was absoluty amazing. try rallylights they have tons of kits and the works

Crutchfield has 'em for $49.99 ea. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_52972207/Hella-Vision-Plus-Conversion-Headlamp.html?search=Hella+VENDORID529&ssi=0&searchdisplay=Hella

I have three sets in service, and wouldn't trade them for the world.

A significantly superior light pattern, even better than my silverstars H6054's, which are still in place on MY F800.

The stock bulbs appear slightly yellow and work very well. On one set, I installed Silverstar capsules, which are whiter and "crisper" on dry nights, but I actually prefer the stock Hella bulbs in the rain, as the whiter light doesn't seem to reflect the road lines as well.

For these, they are absolutely plug and play. On the one truck here, I did have to retension the terminals within the truck's connectors, as the weather boot with the Hellas holds the stock plug out a tad.

I'm running them on a Pete 357, as I tired of "fog" lamp failures. No need for the fog lamps now.
Also on a C7500, since new, with Silverstar capsule from day one. Even with the DRLs, she's got 44k miles and 27 mos on the Silverstar capsules.
And on a '98 F800 where there was no practical way to mount fog lamps.

make sure you get the headlight booster harness. otherwise you could melt the wires from usingf higher wattage bulbs. as for bulbs as long as it uses h4 style....your good to go

I guess I would just buy the harness that is recommended on the site that has the bulbs for sale. Good deal. 2 more weeks and I will be ordering.

I have been running E Code H4 headlights for years. In fact, I converted from a composite light grille to a WT grille just for that reason. Its an excellent upgrade. Just FYI, Cibie makes the best headlights in the world. They are a little more than the Hellas, but probably worth it. The Hellas are not a bad choice, they are better than most and far better than any sealed beam. You will certainly need to install relays and upgraded wiring, but that is not a difficult task. You probably won't need real high wattage bulbs with the E code lights. I would start with 60/55Ws or so and go from there. A very good place to read about and purchase headlights is Daniel Stern Lighting (http://www.danielsternlighting.com/). I would also recommend the lights that have the city or parking lights. Its a small bulb that illuminates the headlight with the parking light.

Wow, that site is badass. I think I will probably go with the Cibie lights. If he can supply all the relays, bulbs and wiring it won't be a problem.

Yunz guys don't have to worry about DOT compliance like I do, as all of mine are installed on trucks that are regularly checked for DOT compliance (Commercial trucks). I agree that "E Code" lamps have a different pattern of dispersal, BUT, DOT and SAE compliance is mandatory in my fleet. Actually, I like the "E Code" dispersal pattern just a little better, but again, they're non-compliant in the circles I travel in.
