Hi, Well it didn't take long. I clipped my passenger side mirror on my new truck. The glass got cracked. I got the new glass from the dealer, but they were no hlep in showing/telling me how to replace it.

I have a 05 Chevy Silverado with the camper, power extending, heated, with turn signal, mirrors. I tried removing the two torqs screws on the bottom. Nothing there. I then tried removing the two screws I can see inside the housing on the door side of the mirror. Nope.

I can see that I'll need the white plastic panel that is on the mirror now to come off and snap onto the new mirror, as well as the electrical connections. I just can't seem to figure out how to release the mirror from whatever is holding it in there.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the glass without destroying the outer housing. They wanted over $350 for the complete assembly. And I'm sure I'd have to remove the door panel to do that job. Thanks in advance for any help.

What is the orded code for the mirror. the service manual shows two procedures. One for DL3, DL4,DL8, and 5M1. Another for 6P3. Both are removed by positioning the mirror a certain way to access retaining clips but mirror stays on the door. Let me know which mirror it is and i will copy directions. Both caution to wear gloves and glasses and not to spill esectrochromic fluid on vehicle.

you have to tilt the mirror up all the way and there is a clip in the middle of the bottom that you have to unclip and slide the mirror up and out. I watched my service tech change mine in like two minutes

My truck is getting it's LineX liner sprayed in right now. I'll look at the part# on the box of the mirror replacement and let you know. I might just try and tilt the mirror all the way up and see if I can release that locking spring. I saw it on the new mirror. It should take all of a few minutes, I hope. Thanks.

Got my truck back. Used a regular flat tip screw driver to pop lower spring clip and job was done in two minutes. Thanks guys.

BTW: LineX looks great too. Now to get my ARE cap next week and I'll be all set.
