Just wondered where fuel filter is on these trucks and how complicated it is, went from a dodge to a duramax and dont know anything, did just recentley change the oil and its much easier to do on one of these then it is a dodge!

Also how hard is it to change the tranny fluid, when i was under the truck i seen the drain plug and filter, is it that easy? And how many quarts do they hold, and whats the best transmission flud to put in these???

Passenger side by battery for fuel filter location. Best way to do it is remove the inner wheel well liner. The ally is that easy. Drain and fill just like the oil change. Only thing to remember is the magnet on top of the trans spin on filter. take it off the old one, clean it off and put it on the new one before reinstalling. Should take around 7.5 quarts doing it this way. The best fluid is a spirited debate. I use amsoil torque drive. Transynd and Mobile 1 are also very popular.

thats easy then you happen to have a website where i can buy that online, or does autozone or napa carry it?

Just pour the quarts down the dipstick tube or is there another way?

For Amsoil your best bet would be to find one of the vendors on the site. Check out www.dmaxstore.com for a transynd and filter combo package they sell. I've never used the Mobil 1 but I'd assume it's at a local auto parts store, but the spin on filter might not be.

Yes, fill the trans through the dipstick tube.

Congrats on the DMAX purchase, and welcome to DP!

Fuel filter is easy , I don't bother with the wheel liner. I just do it from the top, fairly easy. Best trans fluid is tryansynd, look for the hoot method in the do it yourself section for switching fluid types and purging. Just remember the dougnut magnet when you change the trans filter,it's easy to forget and get thrown out. My last truck was a dodge(POS) also, this was the best vehicle move I ever made.

You didnt own the right dodge then! I loved my dodge except it was streetable at all, and i got tired of driving my car around town, going to miss sledpulling.

It's not complicated, you may change your mind after you see the price of transynd ($40/gal) and do it once and be finished.

I carry the Racor Coalescer fuel filter, Allison spin-on filter and the Torque Drive trans fluid as well as other items you may want to have for your new Dmax. 1 stop shop for your next maintenance.
