I'd certainly have a good mechanic check it over. Sounds like somebodies "hot shot" truck, so it probably spent most of it's miles towing.

Supatrucka....I wouldn't have believed that if I hadn't seen it. These are NADA values...I didnt add for bedliner or cap or Bose:

.................................Average Trade-In (http://www.nadaguides.com/uv/viewresults.aspx?LI=1-11-1-2031-0-0-0&Lnk=1&wSec=11&wPr=1&wPg=2032#valueTypes).......... Average Retail (http://www.nadaguides.com/uv/viewresults.aspx?LI=1-11-1-2031-0-0-0&Lnk=1&wSec=11&wPr=1&wPg=2032#valueTypes)
Base Price...................... $20,525....................... $23,700
Mileage 250,000 miles....... $-5,075........................ $-5,075

Options
4WD................................. $2,850......................... $3,075
6.6L V8 Turbo Diesel Engine.. $5,100......................... $5,325
Add Trlr Towing/Camper Pkg.... $175............................ $200
Compact Disc Player............... $150........................... $175
Leather Seats....................... $500........................... $575
LT Trim (Ex. 1500 HD, SS).... $1,500......................... $1,675
Power Seat.......................... $225............................ $250
TOTAL PRICE............... $25,950................. $29,900 (http://www.nadaguides.com/globalframe.aspx?LI=1-11-1-2032-0-0-0&wSec=10&wPr=13&wPg=2102&ItemId=26819&price=29900)*

These DMax's sure hold their value. BudKole...post the VIN in "VIN Checks" to find out about it, and have a mechanic you trust look it over thoroughly.

I think NADA assumes "Excellent" vehicle condition. If you use that at KBB, the values are pretty close.

Last summer I paid $23,900 (Kelly listed it at over $29000 retail) for a 2002 2500HD 4X4 with 83000 miles on it. It has the LS package with power seats, windows, door locks, mirrors, CD player, and 5th wheel with electric brakes. This truck is in excellent condition and has given me zero problems in the year I've had it. I recently had the injectors replaced just because they were under warranty (and my buddy is the diesel mechanic at the local Chevy dealership). I wouldn't pay over $20,000 for one with 250,000 miles on it, no matter what the condition!

I bought mine at 109,000 miles for $21,500. They were trying to get $5000 more, but told them if they wanted to sell it to my poor a$$ they'd have to drop price considerably. So I got them down to what the trade in value was. Then I bought a warranty so they were happy. I also got my injectors changed about 3000 miles ago.

I would wait a couple of weeks to buy any used pickup. As soon as this Employee discount is over, there are going to be alot of used vehicles for sale out there. You should be able to take your pick and the market should be flooded enough to make the prices reasonable.

Actually the NADA guides are the industry standard and list prices at 3 values. Rough wholesale (average to below average condition.) Average retail the typical value that will be applied to vehicle a stealer feel they can sell off their lot and Excellent condition which is self explanitory and rarely paid out by stealers.:)

Adam,
Fill me in on this Warranty that you bought for the truck with that much mileage on it.

Through who (what specific company), how much ($) was it, what are the deductables and for how long is it good for (miles and time)?
Thanks, Pard.

The warranty I got was a extended GM power train warranty. It only goes for 2/24,000, but I figured with the pricey powertrain I'd go for it since I could afford it at the time. I could have bought more but didn't feel I needed full electrical coverage and other things. Talk to you salesman or whoever at the dealership if you're getting it from a GM dealer. I was fortunate with my truck. It was bought new there, and brought there for all service even car washes. So they knew the truck and the owner he just traded it in for a new one since his factory powertrain warranty ran out. I'm currently visiting in PA and don't have access to any of my records from the purchase to give you more details, but the dealership should have info.
