: More air for LLY

Several of us talked about using a belt driven supercharger to boost the air to the LLY on a different thread. Well I have a ProCharger head on its way. It is a P-1SC which, if I read the maps right, will keep about 5psi going into the turbo from about 1000 RPM up.

):hThis could get interesting.):h

I think I can remember you saying you were only going to do a little to your truck, looks like that's gone our the window. Welcome over to the darker side.

So "preturbo" eh?

My goal was, as still is, 500 RWHP in a daily driver. The problem has been that everything that gets me there produces excessive smoke. Especially on spool up.

More air in general would help all around and I would prefer a bigger turbo. The bonus with a belt driven charger should be seen in the lower end, 1500-2200 before the turbo finds it's legs. That seems to be where I see the most smoke. If I can clean up the exhaust down low, I think it would really change the character of the engine. AND allow me to get to 500 without leaving scorch marks on the neighbor's van.

Yep Pat, pre-turbo. Looked at a Whipple for post-turbo, but there just isn't the real estate. Maybe with a right angle snout, but I didn't find one. The 9" scroll on this one is going to be an interesting fit as is.

With all this air going in, I wish someone else would come up with a larger down pipe so I don't have to cobble one of those together too. :)

Sweeet! I know what you mean about the smoke. I'm really pouring it out now. I'd much rather not have smoke if possible. Sure pisses people off, and I don't like seeing it much either. That's really cool you're trying something new, takes balls.

This is all very interesting to me. We got superchargers, bigger turbos -- what about both? I too want a high hp (as high as I can get it) daily driver. I am not so concerned with smoke on the otherhand.

Smoke is cool at first and nice everyonce in awhile for the tail gaters and such but for the most part I do find it a bit of a PITA.

Quite the inovator. Keep us posted, very interesting stuff here. Good luck! :)

I did think about putting an electric clutch on it.:)
