2003 2500HD 4X4.....
My fuel gauge is stuck on half a tank.
the machanic already dropped the gas tank and checked it and he said that everything was ok with everything inside the gas tank.
He said that I might have to buy a new instrument cluster.

Can anyone help me out

You might want to trace that sender wire back as far as you can. I was having some weird problems with my gauge and found a small pinch under the truck. Chances are its probably the cluster but doesn't hurt to check.

How do I know what that sender wire looks like?

any codes if so clear them,may default if code is set

Are you still under warranty. If not there is a place here in So Cal that works on the Delphi radios and instrument panels for GM. I got a new radio from them. Anyway I don't know what the turn around time is but I can post their phone number and address after I get home They were way cheaper then the dealer....Bill

ACE21, the place is in Fullerton.....AER Technologies, inc. 1841 W Commonwealth, Fullerton CA (714) 871-7357 / (800) 321-6970. They at least use to do repair work and sales of Delco equipment. I got a new GM radio from them and when I was there peolple were also bringing in instrument panels for repair work. You can call and see what they charge etc......Bill

I work real close by there too.

It is probably the fuel sensor. I have an 03 and have had mine changed 4 times. GM has a TSB out on them. My first one stuck on full and the one I have now goes through the first 1/4 tank in 60 mile and is empty when I still have 6 gallons of fuel left. They say the sulfur in diesel wears them out quickly. My $.02..Jim

TSB means technical service bulletin

ACE 21 it means they are aware of the problem with the fuel sensors and have been trying to rectify the problem. Take it to the dealer and tell the service manager about it. You can do a search on this site and find a link to find the TSB #. I am going to have mine replaced again before the warranty expires but I am confident they will just keep replacing them as I have the documentation to show that these sensors are junk..Good Luck..Jim

this is the first time that the gauge went out on me.
Do you think they will still honor the repair?
