Hey guys i just bought my first diesel its a 94 z71 with a 6.5 td. Anyways it runs pretty good but i'm looking to start doing some upgrades. For now just the basics like exhaust and intake. From looking at different sites most people dont seem to make 4 inch exhaust systems for a 6.5 but i did find one comapany. Is that because a 4 inch system is to large?? What is the reason for this? What system do you guys recomened. And as far as the intake i have found a few but dont really know what one will work the best. Does cold air make more power than hot as like it does for gas engines. I was looking at the banks super scoop and i'm not quite sure if that would work better than a regular open ellement or not. Anyways please help me out i'm just starting to learn about theis disel stuff. Thanks alot.

You are pretty safe doing an exhaust. But for anything else I would STRONGLY recommend a getting gauges first. A good Boost Gauge and Pyrometer will prevent doing serious damage.

ya i plan on geting a gauge pod with gauges

ya cold air will make more power then hot, but with the weak "snorkle" in the fender, sucking alot of hot air could be better then sucking very little cold air. take the whole box out and make a new intake with a cone filter, then make a heat sheld and grind the inlet of the turbo down smoth. that with the exaust will make a big difference so i hear.

Just taking out the snorkel and 'opening up the air box inlet and outlet makes a significant difference - even with a stock filter.
