I had trouble stopping my truck, took it to the dealership and they gave it clean bill of health, even though the pedal was soft and it touched the floor.
So, i just discovered the RECALL in Canada......YUP
Now read about the braking problem

If you don't file a complaint with the NHTSA, then they won't fix the problem

Do a couple of emergency stops. Firms the pedal up like a brick.

I am at 60K with my 03 and my brakes are great, during the last service they said I had 80% of my brake linings left, giving me an estimated service life of over 200,000 miles. Compared to my '98 truck, the brakes are great.
If I do have any problems I will have the calipers cleaned and the brake fluid flushed, has this done on my 98 and it helped quite a bit.

I shall try to answer all of you. FOr the guys that don't have a problem, watch your rear brakes.
For tmg115, dude same thing happened to me, I took mine in and they wanted to just get rid of me, I dunno even if they did paper-work, DID THEY DO PAPER WORK FOR YOU? Most likely not lol lol
Did you read the LINK above entirely, the NHTSA says that they won't issue a RECALL like they did in Canada because they only have 122 complaints.
#1 I'm going to write a complaint to
U.S. Department of Transportation
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Office of Defects Investigation
NVS-210, 400 7th Street, SW
Washington, DC 20590
#2 Then I'm going to take my truck to a totally new dealership and make sure they WRITE CUSTOMER SAYS HAVING TROUBLE STOPPING......have them release the vehicle as fine, then mail that dealership and GM a CERTIFIED LETTER containing my invoice along with a copy of this link
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2005/gm_silverado_brakes.html
and advise them that even if my warranty runs out, they will be held accountable for the $400.00 to replace pads/rotors and be held completely liable for any injuries/ death due to this nationwide problem.

Took mine in under warranty for squealing . Tech took brakes completelly apart and cleaned everything , even the rotors .I asked if he'd use some antseeze on the moving parts while he was in there . He said that GM called for dialectic grease because of the heat , did a great job . he recommended cleaning once a year because of living in the salt belt . Evidentally it wasn't the first time he did this , it might be something to look into . I didn't have a problem stopping though , before or after . Don't know if this is much help , good luck
