: cheapest 4in aluminized turbo back
Brinker007 06-22-2005, 09:16 PM Where can I get the cheapest 4in Aluminized exhaust that will fit without having to ghetto rig it?
I want to get one that has one of those reversible mufflers too so as to reduce the noise.
I did a search and found the summit or the rpmoutlet exhausts.. Anyone know of any others near that 300$ max range ?
McRat 06-22-2005, 09:24 PM Probably the cheapest you're going to find with a muffler is one of the Ebay companies. About $300.
Brinker007 06-22-2005, 09:25 PM I will probably end up going with the summit then, I have never had a problem with their quality in the past.
C.A.P 06-22-2005, 09:27 PM FWhy Go Cheapest, That Statement Reeks Of Appology, you Bought A Duramax, Treat It Like ONE ,,
Brinker007 06-22-2005, 10:05 PM Because that is my own decision to make.
I have found in the past money could have been saved instead of buying the "brand names" over the no name or less known.
Im sorry my choice does not meet your approval.
McRat 06-22-2005, 10:12 PM I will say my $300 Ebay exhaust fit very poorly. Hopefully the Summit is better.
Brinker007 06-22-2005, 10:15 PM Thanks, I will order one tomorrow. Ill update with how it fits.
C.A.P 06-22-2005, 10:29 PM It Is Your Choice , However ,treat Your Truck Like It Was You ,if You Had A Brain Tumer , Would You Shop For The Cheapest Doctor????? Not Trying To Pic A Argument, But You Do Get What You Pay For, You Can Buy A Magnaflow From The Front Pipe Back For $400to450 If You Shop Around , It Is Stainless And Mounts Very Easy. Last Thing You Want Is To Have A Exaust That Rattles And Has To Be Twisted Here And There To Stop From Rubbing Good Luck
Kartattack 06-23-2005, 07:44 AM I've had my Summit on for about a year or so. Fit was good, installation was easy, price was right. It is pretty loud, but I have gotten used to it, I guess. I have been meaning to try ot with the muffler reversed (louvered opening pointing into exhaust stream), but haven't gotten around to it. It still looks good, or as good as it ever did.
Mark Craig 06-23-2005, 10:14 AM Brinker007,
For just a small amount over your 300.00 you can get a quality MBRP system with welded hanegr wherever possible, a true high temp packed muffler and a 4 bolt flange to bolt it on with. Call us if you have any questions etc, we'll be glad to help you.

Source Automotive. Rip has LB7 4" aluminized on sale for $199.

Do these come with a 4 in down pipe.
MXdiesel 06-24-2005, 02:03 AM Mark
Do these come with a 4 in down pipe. If you are talking about the frontpipe which replaces the pipe that the cat would normally be , no is not included, its an extra option for $100. The MBRP are VERY well built and they would be my first choice. I am actually selling a almost brand new MBRP frontpipe..... PM me if interested. good luck:rolleyes:
Mark Craig 06-24-2005, 09:41 AM geno,
No MXdiesel is correct that's an option. Give us a call if you have any questions etc.

But, I was in a small town in texas on my travels and i was getting diesel when across the street this cc D/A was sitting in a parking lot "which happen to be an exhaust place" and Had a 5" exhaust on it that was bent up touching the rear fender. I liked the idea of the 5" exhaust so I pulled over to him and asked if he liked his exhaust. Then it started! He let me have it like I sold it to him!
It was the Summit 5" system and he said it was junk. It doesnt fit well due to the system being for all duramax trucks and you just use the pieces that you need. He said that the sound was great "which it was" but the fit was terrible and that the tailpipe was hitting his spare and that was the reason he was at the exhaust place to see if the guy could help him out. I hung out while he talked to the exhaust guy and running a 4" it would clear "barely" but the 5" will not "unless" you have a lift kit on it. So, I "was" going with summit but since I seen that poor ol'boys truck I am going with a exhaust system that is made specific for a x-cab sb. Yes, I am going to spend 150-200 more but, hey I think it is worth the money.
Exception here, If your a welder and have a torch and a little know how I guess It doesn't matter which system you get....you can fix it!
Brinker007 07-02-2005, 05:02 PM Update
Got the exhaust installed yesterday. Good fit for the most part except for at the trans cooler lines, its touching. About a inch and a half from the spare. louder and engine revs quicker. Its almost wierd. Totally different truck. at 70 mph you can barely hear it, when you lay into it... wow, sounds like a mack truck.
Install went as thought. Pretty simple.
I will probably add another resonator in the future or swap this muffler out. Just a bit too loud.
But definately a good deal at 299$.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Why should I buy a real nice expensive truck (at least for me) and put the cheapest parts on it? Doesn't make sense at all to me. Some people looking for tires that last 100k miles to save some bucks (but drive in the ditch with rock hard tires....). Others looking for the cheapest exhaust etc. Like others said, you get what you pay for and it works out cheaper in the long run anyway! The diesel is for the long run, so I will only put good nice parts on mine and I wait until I can afford those even if it takes some time....:exactly:
Brinker007 07-03-2005, 11:31 AM Im glad your willing to spend more for something shiney and a brand name.
2500HD007 07-03-2005, 03:45 PM This looks like a good deal.....Im looking into getting this exhaust... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7984438763&category=33630

The exhaust on that picture will NOT fit a dmax, be aware!
pepperidge 07-05-2005, 04:01 PM Whats the MBRP made of? and how loud is it?
I'd like to remain as quiet as stock (no drone at certain hwy speeds etc...)
In retrospect: how does the factory do it? so quiet. is it that they spend more$ tuning it vs. the aftermarket ones?
pepperidge 07-06-2005, 08:12 PM anyone?
Mark Craig 07-07-2005, 12:20 PM pepperidge,
The MBRP's are available in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless, in single and dual 4 inchers. The sound level is close to stock except when you have your foot in it or are towing heavy. The stock exhaust is soooo quiet because of the muffler, you'll have a hard time breathing thru it underwater it is so baffled, louvered, packed and restrictive. In some areas it's a s small a diameter as 2 inches internally.
Give us a call we stock all the systems and will be glad to help you.
