First, can I cut the muffler off and just fire a straight pipe in its place without voiding the warranty? Second, how hard is it to install the roof marker lights if they have not been installed by the factory. Finally, I have seen the new '06 mirrors, is it possible to retrofit these to an '05?

Only thing I can give you any input on is the muffler. You would probably be better off for warranty purposes to keep a muffler on it but go with a straight through design that doesnt restrict airflow like the stocker. I dont see how they would hassle you about changing the muffler as much as they would as totally removing it. Just my guess.

The marker lights aren't too bad to install. The hardest part is bringing yourself to drill through the roof of your new truck. Then you need to run a wire to the park light circuit and ground. Not a big deal at all.

Yes the new 06 mirrors should go on an 05 no problem.

You would void the warranty on the muffler itself by removing it or replacing it, luckily exhaust remains one of the few things that can still be modded and replaced with EPA certified equipment without fear of voiding the manufacturer warranty of other components.

So the muffler warranty only is voided? So it's no big deal then to rip that thing off. I would put an aftermarket exhaust on but can't afford it right now and want to hear that beast rumble!:ro)

If you cut just the muffler off there will be no change in noise or performance. Look into the cat delete option that most exhaust manf. make it is totally a bolt on deal so if it needs to go to the dealer you can just put the cat back on no problem and the dealer will never no that is was missing.

gotcha, how could there be no change in noise without a muffler though? What would be the point of having one if it wasn't necessary to keep it quiet?

My friend removed his muffler and replaced it with a pipe. It is a LOT louder. I personally don't really like it though b/c it sounds too "un-refined". Made her breathe better though.

just took off the muffler on mine....no change /hardly at all.
took off cat. replaced with 4" downpipe to the stock 3.5-the turbo was heard.
straight piped it back from there, just a little less loud. you have to strain to hear it. the whistle.
i like a shorty exhaust for the sound...looking at trying a sidepipe exit for the noise i want....just taking off muffler is like doing nothing but shedding weight.
