How does that plastic piece pop out from the o/h console where some of you guys are mounting gauges and attitude monitors.

Just drill out the plastic that is flared over.

Flared over?? On my '02 it just looks like it is held in there by friction or tabs or something. I don't see where it is "flared over"

Sorry didn't pay attention. 03 in newer you have to do that. 02 you just have to release the little clips and pop it out IIRC.

So do I wedge something inbetween and pull it "out" or just push it "in" towards the roof?

I think you release the clips and pull it towards you. Did you remove the roof console to take a better look at it?

Nope - I didn't get into it at all. I searched the forum for previous posts but nothing there. Maybe I'll have to pull the whole thing down.

You definately need to pull the whole thing down. Only one screw, it's pretty easy.

Remove one phillips head screw at the very front of the console by the windshield and slide the console forward towards the windshield and slightly pull it down on it at the same time.

It is held in as well by two large plastic clips above the drop down door at the rear of the console.

It will have a powered wire for the reading lamps that just unclips.
