I am a new member and have read lots of threads and can't seem to get a consensus opinion on anything. Some say to get a hi flo airfilter others have tested them and say the factory paper filter is best. Most agree that a bigger exhaust is worthwhile and if you are going to chip get a banks or edge? I have 2004 LB7 HD2500 4x4 with allison transmisssion. I pull a 30 ft 5th wheel. I want to give my truck a little more umph for pulling hills, but I don't want to burn it up. I am thinking about just going with the larger waste gait and Banks exhaust. Seem reasonable?

Just a 90 juice is all you need. The factory exhaust is plenty.

IMO a banks exhaust and wastgate are going to not gain you much but a lighter wallet. If your looking to do on the cheaper side an edge attitude or ez amp and turn it down for towing. Edge is pretty good bang for the buck imo. Watch your EGT's and you will be fine. Or even one of the cheaper tuners and a pyro would be fine. IMO if you start monkeing with the wastegate you have to have a boost gauge. Dont really need one if you dont mess with the wastegatr IMO

I'm very happy with my setup and feel comfortable (in level 3) when the trailer is hooked up also. The Exhaust upgrade (Banks, MBRP, etc.) is very good for lowering the EGT's but won't show much of a power gain without a tuner of some kind. A front 'Off-road Bypass Pipe' (being politically correct here), is also a must IMHO and should be installed with the exhaust to really lower the EGT's (150-200 degrees in my case). Leave the paper filter and spend the $$$ on gauges.
