I was told that after adding exhaust and or intake mods you should disconnect the batteries ??? If this is true would it be the Pos or Neg

After adding? I guess many suggest disconnecting before doing any work, but I'm not sure why for exhaust or intake mods. Just be careful not to short any hot leads!!

Heck, I didn't even disconnect batteries when I fixed the stepper motors in the cluster. When it comes to changing batteries, I plan to do them one at a time to keep the truck alive the whole time. I'm a little concerned that if I let it go to sleep (no batteries connected) it might wake up a little cranky or confused.

Electrically, it doesn't matter if you disconnect the + or - but usually most people would disconnect the negative cables.

I wouldn't say disconnect them because of adding a intake or exhaust, unnecessary time.

If you were doing any electric welding when installing the exhaust, you should disconnect the batteries. Some tech's weld the pipes together on the truck. Charlie

I think that might be to reset the computer so it will relearn. I am not sure if it actually does or not. Even so, the computer will relearn after driving for a while anyway.

Thats what they said, should have been more specific, thought I might try it and see while doing maintenance.

Can't answer your question of why you should disconnect after installing an exhaust but if you are going to disconnect the batteries you should always disconnect the NEGATIVE cables FIRST. They way you do not run the risk of shorting with the wrench when disconnecting the positive cable.
