my LLY/Allison with 27,000 on it lopes at idle but dealer wasted 2 hours running it watching fuel pressure which was fine and told me that its fine and just to let it go i got another opinion and they claim that i need to replace Fuel Press Reg and it should cure it just wonderin if i should make them fix it now or wait for it to get worse and screw somthing else up

It's probably the regulator. You won't be able to really see the pressure change but you can graph it to catch it. Also latest software. Injector balance rates<4 @ idle in gear. Tim

i noticed mine doing this as well about 2 months ago, it is now throwing a p1093 code all the time. I thoight it was somethign with the Edge so I took it out of line and the issue is still there. its a fuel issue as far as I can tell but anyway keep an eye on it.

How do I explain it in my terms? Is it an intermitent shudder from the engine that you can hear and feel if your sitting in the drivers seat?
I can feel it in the drivers seat while holding on to the steering wheel at idle but it's really hard to notice with the hood up and my head under it.
Are we talking about the same thing?

well i would not call it a shudder but i do notice the lope or SURGE as they techs called it in the cab and very easy to hear out side listening to it I had it in around 19,000 miles for the #7 injector to be replaced and the rest were balanced out by programming when they messed with it the other day they updated the software again but the suring seems to be gettin more constant

xr-freak,
Mine does what you are talking about. I have about 25,000 miles on it and it has done the same thing since new. It cycles quickly. There is a little bit of roughness followed by an equal period fo smootheness followed by a perios of roughness... The perios is about 2 seconds. The roughness is only very slight. It is barely noticable unless you are holding the steering wheel. The needle on the rpms on the dash doesn't budge.
I never even asked the dealer about it. Just figured it was normal.

At idle, the truck will cycle the vane position on the turbo for EGR reasons.
If the roughness is accompanied by white smoke, an injector is acting up.

Many thanks McRat. If we put the blocker plate on the egr will it stop?
