With the key in the ignition and the door open the dinger goes off. Is there a way to fool the system into thinking the door is closed? Or is there an easier way to SHUT THIS NOISE OFF????.

I don't want to have to shoot my truck:eek: .

I sometimes stick a screw driver in the latch and force it to the close position. Just remember to release it before you slam the door shut.

So, there's some switch in the latch that signals that the door is closed? Can the switch be shorted to indicated the door is closed without flipping the latch? That's what I've been wondering. There must be some way to send a signal that shows the door closed even when it's not. At least, that's my uninformed opinion.

You could do that. There would be some disadvantages to that as the door truck would always think the door is closed even when it is not. Your interior light wouldn't come on when you open the door for example.

you can push the display/tune button on the radio about 3 times and then hold it until it beeps and the dinger will go off you might have to do it more than once but it does work at least on mine. this was posted earlier somewhere

havns3 is correct. Hold the Disp button in until you hear a beep (hint, keep radio volume fairly low so you can hear the beep), then hold Disp button again until you hear a beep. On mine that's all it takes. No more door chime until you turn key off, then it resets. Some guys say it takes three tries.:cool2:

Doesn't work if you have an aftermarket deck...

Do a search under "kill door chime mod". You disconnect a wire to the BCM - very good mod as does not kill all chime functions.

I pushed the tune button 3 times heard the beep but the door chime still beeped, so I did it again and right when I heard the beep turned the radio off and then back on and that worked.

when the guys at the radio store went to install my afternarket head ubit into my 05, out of my 02,they found that Gmhad changed the harnesses, which Sucked. They did not have an updated harness, so I believe they rigged up the closest one they could find, alas there was two wires I believe that didn't hook up. One was the door chime, the other must have been my radio dimmer. The rest of the warning chimes work, just the door dinger is the only one not working. Next time I'm screwing around in there I'll let you guys know what wire it was. Now if I could only disable the door locks.
