how much work is it to put in a turbo down pipe on a 2002 2500HD and is it necessary??

are you talking about installed a larger pipe?

if so not very hard. entire system can be installed in an hour.

The actual downpipe off the back of the turbo can be a PITA to remove. The bolts are tight as all heck.

To answer your question...its not necessary. Unless you get a different turbo. But you didn't specify what your doing. If you stay stock...where you gonna get an aftermarket downpipe to mate up with the IHI turbo?
