that is kinda how mine looks...shit everywhere. gauges, gps, occassionally radar detector and soon a police scanner. not sure about the hard wire but i know it can be done. im currently trying to find a way to mount my gps in the cubby hole in the dash and hide the wire...i hate wires hanging out everywhere.

I am gonna hardwire my Garmin pretty soon. I was probably gonna find a circuit that had a high fuse rating (or maybe put my own in) and use an inline fuse rated the same as the cigarette lighter. I will probably use the female end off of a 12 volt extension so I can keep my GPS cord intact. As soon as I get off my lazy butt to do it. ;)

What state? Virginia? Or is it West Virginia? I can't remember which state is the one. I have a radar detector, but with my truck, I just put it on my dash with the velcro and ran the cord down the passenger side of the trim bezel, bundled it up and put it in my ashtray on my 02, with it plugged into my cigarette lighter. It looks clean, I don't have that cord hanging out, and my radar detector is in perfect placement for me to access the controls.

virginia.i used to run one.you have to go out of state to buy one.most ebay vendors wont sell to you if you live in va.we just dont have the "point and shoot" radar (x band iirc) that yall have.thats why they are illegal here.my roomate had a V1 and got pulled with it.500 dollar slap on the wrist to get it back plus some points.

if you hardwire it in and place it in the very top of the window next to or sorta above the rear-view mirror its totally not noticeable.... you can hardly even notice the suction cups when standing right next to the truck.....
most people put in in a very noticeable spot and have the cord hanging down which is a dead giveaway to a po-po~!
another great option.... http://www.mgtmotorsports.com/mgt_bv1.html?gclid=CPbN98nVgaACFSgtawodv24blw
outta sight and outta mind..... and if you get a hit from a cop and you see him start turning around.... simple and easy, just take it out of the window.... the v1 comes out so easy its not a big deal..... trust me I've run one in my big truck occasionally and its an arrestable offense to have one in a truck. so i make sure to take it out of the window after a full hit and a then following cop.

I have my tom tom mounted up in the top left hand corner of the windshield, I used good adhesive to mount it with it's original plastic mounting bracket because the heat of the summer makes the suction cup fail. I then ran the wire down behind the a pillar cover into the fuse box behind on the drivers side , I purchased a female cigarette lighter plug and purchased an add-a-fuse from autozone and wired it to one of the fuses. Everything fits right in the area of the fuse box with no problems. I always take my GPS out when I leave the truck for an extended period of time. Charlie

Ya, mount a 12v cigarette plug under the dash then plug it in and hardwire it that way.
I have it done this way.
