I finally got my engine back from the Avants. I will be documenting the install, but my digital camera had dead batteries. I took a pic with my camera phone.
Sorry about the quality

But my truck aint a Chevy! Any poor dirt-farmer can walk in off the street and buy a Chevrolet. It takes a man of class and distinction to buy a GMC :D
I chose that color to honor its Heritage. Besides, No sense in having some dipthong mistake it for a gasser-:t

yea, the ol' chev orange does lean toward a gas motor, everyone would be like "your big block is about to blow up,it clanken like a rod knock".

The first 6.2's were the chevy red/orange, and they looked cool. I like the Detroit green though.

When the time comes I'll paint my block with something like this stuff (http://www-heat.uta.edu/coating/coating.html).

Early 6.2's were red, not "Chevrolet Orange". That's unique only to the early gas engines. I never did figure out what color red to buy for the 6.2's. I think "Ford Red" is what the stealership gave us over the parts counter years ago.
That same "Ford Red" is what I use to closely match the original Ansul powder coating on the H.D. 20# and 30# cartridge type fire extinguishers I rebuild at work. We have over 1300 extinguishers, most mounted in trucks. They require touchup regularly. Maybe it's the only thing Ford did right!
