I just purchased a power pup programmer for my 04 LB7 (It is a new unit, not used) and when I click on tunes to load program it says it is checking to see if vin number matches truck vin number. Then it says it is pulling stock program for about 5 seconds then it says (Error Code 00,For help call bullydog). It will check for codes in the computer and reset transmission but I can not get it load programs.Has anyone seen this before?Or do you think it is a defective unit.I called bulldog and they told me to make sure the right fuses are pulled and to get my cell phone away from the truck if that did'nt work to call him back, well when it did'nt work I called them back and they were closed for the day. Please help as I would like to see how much difference this makes in my truck.

I think this is a relatively typical problem with many hand-held tuners. I know my 03 LT simply would not work with a tuner similar to the BD. They shipped me 4 different tuners and had me pulling fuses left/right, crossing my fingers and waiting for a full moon to appear ...with no luck. I think the LT's are more prone to these "electronic" glitches in the CAN bus due to all the chatting taking place between the various electronic modules. I'm sorry but I don't have a lot of recommendations to offer assuming you have followed the supplied directions. The only thing I would add is make sure all your electronics in the cab are turned off as well. I know just how frustrating the situation can be ...especially when you're holding new power in the palm of your hand and can't get it transferred to the truck. Good luck.

I'm sure you already tried pulling fuses, but if you didn't pull IGN.tcm any and every one, RADIO, INFO. and, If you have ONSTAR. pull what ever fuses to controll it, it might be jumbling the data lines

In the directions they say on 01 & 02 models pull these fuses (SEO IGN,RDO 1,RAP #2) and on 03 pull the (info 15 amp,Radio 15 amp,TBC Ign1 10amp,TBC Batt 15amp).They don't actually list the 04 model so I pulled the fuses they list for the 03 models.I even tried without pulling any fuses with the same results.Am I correct in pulling the fuses listed for the 03 model?C.A.P. you said something about pulling the IGN.tcm fuse but I can not find this one. Thanks everyone for the help, any more ideas are appreciated.

I had a BD tuner once that you had to put in the freezer first to get it to work... no bull. They repaired it for me at no cost, very promptly I might add.

GDS,

Hey a local boy hello! Make sure you disconnect all radar detetors, CB's etc, turn everything off and roll down the windows and shut the doors and lock them before youstart in addiiiton to the fuses etc. The GM's just seems to be VERY touchy about electrical draw when installing a programmer. This has solved most all problems for us on Power Pups, Superchips, Predators etc etc.

Yes I agree with Mark also set the parking brake. I have seen times that that was the missing link.

Why did you send it back? You could have just wrapped an ice pack around it when you wanted to use it :) Anymore the preparations to get some tuners to work sounds like a Dr. preparing for surgery ... all fuses pulled <check>, windows rolled up <check>, radio off <check>, full moon <check>, temperature between 65-70 degrees <check>, etc. etc.

Never have installed a bully dog in my 03 ls, but have installed a predator and a quad. I never had to pull fuses but do have to unhook an aftermarket item that draws power for the BCM unit or else the programs won't install.

As mentioned, radio off, ac off, DRL's off, any aftermarket power sources disconnected, etc. is the best advice.

To update everyone where I am at now.I talked to Bully Dog again today and I had to walk them through the steps I was taking and the messages I was recieving. The guy that I was talking to said he has never seen this and is supposed to check on a few things and call me back first thing in the morning. He also said that I have the latest version out.I would like to thank everyone for there suggestions and if you have anymore please let me know as I still do not have this resolved. And to you Mark Craig, what's up,I was wondering if there was anyone around my area that was a member.I read the forums every night when I get to work.I have not posted much because all the good info on here I normally get my questions answered without asking.

Just to update everyone again,Jeff from Bullydog warranty department called me back today and said he has seen this a couple of times and that it is a flash problem on the programmer. He e-mailed me a page to tape on top of my shipping box and drop of at UPS for pre-paid overnight return, then they will fix it or send me a new back overnight.I think they have some pretty good tech service,as far as I can see so far.Just my luck, they probably had 100's of them on the shelf with one bad one and that is the one I got.So now I will have to wait a couple more days to try this thing out.:(

I take it this is not a programmer for the bank robber.

Well, here is my final update on the power pup.Sent back to Bully Dog for replacement said I would recieve new one Tuesday, well after three phone calls this week I fially recieved it Thursday.Guess what it does the same thing as the original one did.So it must be something with my particular truck it does not like.So come Tuesday I will be sending it back to get my money back, and will probably get juice with attitude.Just have to try and not let the extra power levels get me into trouble with my stock transmission.

Well I recieved my edge/attitude today and installed it,was much easier than I expected. The hardest part was to get the plastic inner fender out to drill and tap for the EGT sender. So far I am amazed a the power difference and the response from it.I love the guages in the attitude to.Now to see how much difference it will make pulling my 10,000lb fifth wheel camper this weekend.

I put a bullydog tune in the Green reg cab truck. I never had a problem installing it for the first time or changing programs several times since then.

GDS,

Yep were local to you, should have come to see us at the office. We have the Power Pups and Edge Juices right here, could have tried a different Power Pup and saved you a lot of hassels etc.
