Ok, I get all the weird crap.
Just picked up my new 05 D/A extended cab a few hours ago. Yeah I'm still pumped. Well anyway I took off from the dealship and my eyes are going screwy--hard time focusing on the car infront of me. Come to find out there are two lines of distortion right at eye level. Wild. Thin spots in the glass. Guess I'll hit the service manager in the morning. Upside is it's my big chance to get a tinted windshield.

Anyone else had this problem?

Hmm, strange problem... Haven't heard of that before... Must be a bad batch of glass.

I had the same problem after I had my windshield changed. The installer claims it was a cheap windshield made in Mexico. He changed it to a PPG windshield for me and it was fine again.

GM windshields are supposed to be good quality. Perhaps something happened to the truck before you bought it and they changed it for a cheap one. You can bet they would go cheap because it would be on their own dime.

My Chrysler Sebring had the same problem, but it wasn't in the line of sight.

I think it was the champange he was drinking while celebrating his new DMax at the dealer that caused it! :drinking:

Seriously though.....my glass-guy once told me that you can get the "el-cheapo" windshield, or you can get the "quality" one. I'd bet the dealer oops somehow and used the "el-cheapo"....

Mine is the same way, only on the passenger side.

Not knowing your age, but maybe you got one of the senior citizen trucks with the bifocal windshield.):h

If they wont (I am sure they will) your insurance will take care of it with a $100 deductable since it is in the drivers view.

My 03 had the same problem brand new.....kind of an orange peel look, really tough on the eye's. Dealer replaced the windshield right away. If they ask you if you have taken it through a car wash say "NO". Damn dealers always trying to get out of fixing it for free.

Good luck,

Chris

Thanks guys. Talked to the service manager and he's ordering a new one. In all his years working service he's only seen a couple of these. I always get the one in a million things----however I can't win the lottery!!

Man I really love this truck.
