I'm sure this question has been asked before but I did a search and could not find anything so please bare with me. I just bought a new 2005 Crew Cab 4x4 Dually last Friday and of course I think the tires are way to small. I went to a couple of tire shops and everyone has different options and they don't give me the warm and fusy that they know what they are talking about.

Any advise is appreciated.

On stock rims without spacers 235/85R16 is the max. Even then @ 80 psi, they can rub depending on how much weight your putting on them.

RVC, on your 04.5 did you have to reprogram the ECM for the new tire size?

I am planning on going to the 235/85 tire size.

I had the dealer update the ECM for the anti-lock brakes, speedometer is actually closer to true speed since the tire change.

I will be using the Hot Shot Alcoa wheels and haul a 5th weighing in at 12,000#, on my other dually with the Classic Alcoa's and 245/78's never had a problem touching.

I have Bridgestone Revo's P235/85's on Alcoa Magnum wheels and they have about 3/8" clearance and about a 1/4" with a load. You will not have any problems.

CJD CJ7,
Sorry I mentioned the Alcoa wheels when it was asked about stock wheels. Alcoa wheels are made to GM exact specs. They do not want to deal with liability issues. So they are identical.

could you advise the total weight of trlr/skid steer , and weight of trlr/dozier?

what do you call a 'load'. My trailer and load usually runs from 17K to 20k, sometimes more.

Thanks Duramax Dually, just got the rims yesterday and the Bridgestone Revo's come in tomorrow. Can't wait to get them on, the stockers look a little weak.
