Well I had a 97 12 valve dodge.

Today I traded it off.

I now own a 03 LB7 ext cab long box. high mileage 228000 but honestly you can't tell no leaks no squeaks no rattle the oil is nice and golden truck is quiet (thats gonna change)

everything is un molested.

I traded for it straight across. guy wanted a standard I wanted a auto so its got a 5 speed allison.

first chevrolet I have owned.

cool. do you research and learn the weak link so you know what to look for and how to avoid them.

injectors are the big one...

make sure you keep a spare. also remember anything from the dealership is always going to be more money.

just about anything is going to be more quiet than that rattletrap cummins...just wait till its about -10 out without being plugged in and start it then. it will get louder, nothing a little 2 stroke oil wont fix.

They've already got a pressure sensor on the high side of the pump. Just get a tuner or EFI Live and you can read it all day long. As said above, injectors are the weak link on an LB7 duramax.

truck is quiet because of the high pressure common rail system. also the pilot control also helps quiet the motor down.

depending on if your truck is a emissions or non emissions truck you can just remove the muffler and it will get louder.
