i would love to put a cummins into this truck. But i have some questions. What to do with the motor mounts. And what tranny/tranfer case to use. Has anyone on here done the swap before. Thanks.

get an nv4500 out of a 98-02 dodge or out of a 95+ chevy and then swap the bellhousing. you could use an earlier one if you want the lower ratios, i prefer the later model nv4500s for their taller gear ratios and the ability to make a short throw shift tower for them. run that with a passenger side drop np241c out of a late model suburban/blazer would be the best combo i can think of for a trans. or you could run a huge 203 or 205 off the back, id prefer the 241 myself, but a huge iron case wouldn't be out of place behind a diesel.

as for the actual swap, im not of much help, never done it. hopefully someone else will chime in

There is a guy on here that sell mounts. I'll look and find him in a minute.

if you chould find him that would be great. I have heard of people that make the mounts but can never find them. and this is my first major swap so i would like to stick with an auto tranny.

TN Diesel Conversions is the one to get in touch with... CrewCab59 is his screen name I believe. he has a website if you google the name. He'll set you right up.

4btswaps dot com is a good site for reading up on the little things needed to make everything work.

I used the cummins motormounts and mated them to the brackets that are angled and going across the crossmember. very easy and strong solution

well i found a couple sites that sell the motor mounts/ cross member. I am still up in the air wether to go nv4500 because the only cab i have is not set up for a stick.

Ive been looking into doing this swap as well. My truck has an auto right now and I was thinking that I could just cut a hole in the floor to allow the nv4500 to fit in there, and id have to hand a clutch pedal. Im also hung up on the motor mounts. I'd prefer to buy something than fabbing as I dont readily have access to the machine shop tools needed to fabricate them. I also am unsure of what t-case to use. Im thinking ive got the np208 on my truck right now.

You can run a TH400 or 4L80-E (preferred) if you wanted to stick with an auto and chevy parts/T-case. Does your dodge donor truck have the transmission/t-case you need? You could run all dodge running gear if you had a complete truck.
