Check out the Collaborative Biodiesel Tutorial Website at http://www.localb100.com/cbt/mainpage/
It's got lots of info for homemade biodiesel processors (cheaper and better than any you can buy) and processing steps, along with useful info on quality.
Good Luck.

Thanks yosoyoso, that is one of the easiest to understand bio sites I have visited in a while. Loved the Dr. Pepper small batch method:ro)

It is easy, it is simple, at least initially.
It is also messy and somewhat time consuming.

There are trade offs.
To be economic you just about HAVE TO use used fryer oil.
Collecting used fryer oil can be messy and time consuming, requires contacts and may require setting up a regular collection route. If you don't collect on schedule your sources will likely find another disposal method.
Using fryer oil also removes the "simple", since used fryer oil can be very variable.
Here comes the bit about titration... remember your "kiddie khemmie set" days ?
BTW, you'll need to be comfortable with metric measure, Litres, CCs, etc and switching back and forth to gallons.
