Hi all! I am looking for some input from everyone as to which route to persue. I was thinking of upgrading to either a modded (just lightly like 30% or so) LB7 injection pump from someone like Industrial Injection or one of the other vendors here, or going with an LBZ pump and regulator and running EFI live. I am not too familiar with the pros and cons of each and was hoping some of you with experience or knowledge in this area can help with this decision. I am not going to do too much else to the truck other than upgrade the turbo after this with something like a Cheetah. I am looking for around 500-525rwhp when all is said and done. Thanks!

I have a modified LBZ CP3 from Danville. Works great and I havent been able to drain the rails yet. And you should be at 500-525 with a tune from Mark, Nick, or even a few of the other SV's as your truck sits. Well minus the bad injectors.

Injectors are all new now- I sure like my dealership;). How long have you been running your pump now?

LBZ pump and regulator runs really really really good! Its more responsive all the way across the curve!

Im running a stock LBZ pump with just a modified regulator from Danville and its been a good upgrade. Never drained the rail, and was able to command about 1500 more PSI at WOT. Be sure to get a lift pump if you want to keep the rail pressure up with a big EFI tune, its a must even with modded CP3's.

I agree with everything said so far. I had an issue with draining the rails in my LBZ two years ago but I added twin cp3's and that issue is gone now lol. The LBZ pumps will dang sure hold pressure up but with big tunes you can drain the rails really quick if your not careful.

Take it for what it's worth, but I've always been steered to the LB7 pump as the better unit. You can do well in the 500RWHP range with the stock turbo and pump and a good tune and have money left over.

Well, I sure like the sound of saving a few $'s, and I know the ministry of finances will too! ;)

John, do you think that at the 500-525hp level that the egt's will be manageable with the factory turbo?

Get an LBZ pump and have it modded by Shane @ Wicked Diesels

If you'd like to give me a call I can try to help.

If you talk to Shane he'll tell you that he prefers the LB7/LLY pumps.

With EFI Live you can make 500-520RWHP with an LB7 Pump and stock charger. The LBZ pump and reg will build more pressure, the big difference is at wide open with a big tune, but is also very noticeable throughout the entire powerband. Just an Outta the box LBZ pump with good tuning will be a very noticeable upgrade to what you already have. As far as EGTs Ive refused to spend the money on a gauge because I wouldnt let off anyway, but Ive been sporting your desired power range on at the track and a few times in front of the sled, and she still tows flawlessly daily. My two cents...

PS A modded LBZ pump tho, that would just be a little extra bonus!
