Anyone have info on the newest SunCoast trans kit? On the website it says this kit supersedes the SCIV kits. I'm just wondering what has changed and why it's "better" or if it even is. I'm not sure if I'm a candidate for such a kit as I think Mike L's "Stage I" kit sounded outstanding for what I do, but wanted to explore this option as well. No TC with the kit so I assume you can pick your own from their selection.

they changed the clutches, each plate is a friction on one side and a steel on the other. they had problems with the old clutches coming apart. and you are correct, kit does not come with converter.

No - they didn't have a problem with clutches coming apart. Where'd you get your info?

the clutch material was de-laminating from the steel. there are threads on here where i read it

whatever maybe it was not a big problem but i know i read it on here. suncoast is the $%#@ so i m sure these are better kits.

There are other threads on this already:

The kits are the same with the exception of the C3's and C4's. The SC IV kit came with 6 double sided Alto Red Eagle clutches and 5 Kolene steels in each pack, for a total of 12 friction surfaces. The GMax kits come with 12 single sided Alto Carbonite clutches, the back side of each acts as the steel - so you still have 12 friction surfaces. It is the same material that has been being used successfully in the C1s for years. The C4 top plate is also machined now and requires a core return, and the core charge has gone from $100 for the Stage IV kit (+$200 for the converter) to $200 for the GMax kit because of this. It is also available with or without all of the seals and gaskets.
