I'm looking into adding a cold air intake kit to my 04.5 Duramax, and herd from a friend that in the winter during 0 degree weather my truck might not not run well. Does anybody live in cold country, and have any coment's?

Cold weather will not affect aftermarket intakes whatsoever.

I wish there was one that did make the air colder, hit 118 yesterday while on the road...

There is something of truth in there. Back in the day if you removed the heat riser tube from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner snorkel you could end up with carburetor icing in the winter. Happened to me on a van at work years ago. Of course, this was on a gas engine. I've seen on TV or in movies about pilots adjusting carburetor heat in small planes to keep from icing also. This is probably where that thought came from.

On edit: To get back to the question, I too do not belive you will have a problem with a diesel.
