_nar_ 06-21-2005, 01:01 AM That wind is dangerous. We get a lot of semis and trailers like yours blown over just south of town here..
At least you weren't hurt though...
swatkins 06-21-2005, 01:48 AM Will insurance cover it?
We are going to see how "good" the good sams insurance is! We have only had the trailer 3 months,,, The problem is that it was a 2005 model and they are making 2006's. There is a 5 thousand dollar difference in what a new one will cost me and what we paid for the end of model year sale price.. We have replacment cost insurance,, paid extra for it even! We will see....
dirty old man 06-21-2005, 01:12 PM Man, that's scary, glad no one was hurt.
Keep us posted on how you make out with Good Sam Insurance. I've been thinking of changing over to them on my TT.
swatkins 06-21-2005, 01:44 PM Just returned from the Truck dealer... They are looking for new bed and I hope they can find one that is white so we don't have to have it painted.... Drove the truck home pulling a small U-Haul! One tough truck! The hitch was distroyed but it let loose after trying to turn the truck over.. More pictures of the truck soon....
JJs DuMax 06-21-2005, 05:25 PM So glad everyone was OK. Could have been much worse. JJ :)

chtucker 06-23-2005, 01:17 AM Just curious what you traveling weights were with that set up, actual wieghts of of truck axles, and trailer axles?
swatkins 06-23-2005, 02:27 AM I weighed it just before the trip.... 1600 lbs was the pin weight and 9200 lbs was the loaded weight of the trailer.. It pulled great! I found about 65 mph was a sweet spot. It would go faster but 65 was what I found the truck moving when I was not paying attention to speed and not really worring about getting somewhere. Those weight are pretty close... I lost the slips in the accident :(
SPDSRG 06-24-2005, 08:40 AM That hurt real bad looking at your truck! Thank God you folks did not get hurt.
hdmax 06-24-2005, 03:29 PM The bridge you are talking about, is it the 24 mile one down there? I can't imagine driving along and out of nowhere, something picks you up and throws the camper.

Thats the one! We were ok driving along and protected by the trees... When we went to the higher bridge, crossing the river, the protection was lost and the wind just took us :(
The good news is the insurance is really taking care of us!.. The dealer already has the bed replaced and they installed the new hitch today!.. I went with a more substantial hitch even though the one I had did a great job!
Also GMAC insurance has been really good. They are replacing the trailer and I should have a check tommorow! If anyone needs RV insurance check out the Good Sam/ GMAC insurance.
PAPA - H 06-25-2005, 10:55 AM Swatkins,
It's really exciting to hear that GMAC and Good Sam is taking care of you, and helping you get this event behind you - been a Good Sammer for a while now.
This is my second post here, although I have been posting on forums for years. I pickup my new 05 2500HD today - Excited! I like this forum, buckets of good information and no flaming... Will be back with a signature line in the very near future....
Papa and Grandma Honey....
If we had known Grandkids were so much fun,
We would have had them first!
