I am buying a Bully Dog power pup from one of our members. I am wondering if you can just unplug the unit from his truck and plug it into mine without problems. I am not aware if these tuners are picky about locking onto a vin number so you cant just use it on annother truck?? i apreciate any input. thanks

i believe if you put his truck back to stock with pp, it will transfer to any lly.

you can't just use them on another truck. They "marry" themselves to whatever truck has been programmed at the time. In order to use it on your truck he will have to have his program removed and go back to stock. Then and only then can you take it and use it on your truck. Same with Hypertech and Predator as well.

The reason for the marriage is that it takes your stock tune and stores it away in the tuner for safekeeping. It can't store to stock tunes so you must put the tuned truck back to stock to empty the tuner for use in the new truck. PPE is also this way.
