Hey Guys i need your opinion. I've found a guy who took the lift out of his truck and took the aftermarket front driveshaft out of his truck. Apparently its for lifted truck to eliminate the vibration caused by 4x4. All he wants for it is my stock one straight up trade...i only have a 4" rancho lift and don't really notice alot of vibration but in a year or so i'm re-lifting the truck and putting the 7-9" cognito on. So i need you guy's opinion if i should trade or not. I know it sounds stupid, giving a stock for something better for free but i've never dealt with something like this. Thanks guys
This is what the add says:
"I took out my lift so no longer need this, I want a stock shaft in trade.
If you have vibration in your lifted truck in 4X4 at higher speeds you need this to fix your problem. Some lifted trucks vibrate in 4x and will need this and some don't.
This is off an '07 with very little use. Like new custom double cardon joint unit. Would cost about $400 to have one made."

This drive shaft won't work on your 05 it doesn't have splines coming of drive shaft!

The picture of the driveshaft is a driveshaft made for a fixed yoke output transfer case. All Duramaxs require a front driveshaft with splines since we have a slip yokes on our transfer cases. As pictured, the driveshaft above would NOT fit a stock 07 classic transfer case.

It is missing the adapter flange that slides into the t-case, and bolts onto the double cardan end of that driveshaft, the piece that driveshaft is missing is useless to him if he has your stock shaft anyways. So in short i believe that shaft is correct for your truck, its just missing the adapter flange. Check out this link http://www.neapco.com/n_products-catalogs.php, ( please note this company is not a vendor, but they do not sell to consumers and this link contains illustrations that are relevant for reference purpose) Click on 2009 driveline catalog DS245, then go to page 9-5 ( section 9 page 5), look at illustration type C. Then go to Page 9-8 and look at illustration type 9. Like i said, this guy should have the flange adapter you need with that driveshaft and its useless to him with your stock driveshaft.

You are correct. An adapter flange with a slip yoke may be able to bolt to the pictured driveshaft and work on a lifted GM HD truck depending on the length of the pictured driveshaft. More info and/or pieces are needed from the seller of driveshaft to reassure fitment!

Right, and thats probably gonna be to long to replace his stocker for the time being, but if he could find another stock driveshaft to swap that guy for not alot of $ it would still be a good trade even if he had to have the length of the driveshaft altered in the future.
Manufacturers List price on that drive shaft is 730.40 jobber is 306.77 That includes the flange that is absent in the picture, but would not include welding and balancing. They are sold by the company that manufactures them as an unwelded assembly, which means they are not welded on one end and have more than enough tubing to accomodate a variety of applications, the driveline shop would just need to cut off the excess tubing, weld the one end and balance if the application warranted it. Thats probably way more of an explanation than was needed, but im kinda bored sitting here at work.
