I know somebody posted them here recently but damned if i can find em!

I just got a copy of the event history, lists 3300 Scheduled for production Effective date: 12/23/03 End date: 12/24 03 Does this mean my truck has been built? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif It also list code 3400 Broadcast Effective date 12/24/04 with no end date listed also no vin listed. Maybe I'm not getting the last truck nuilt in 03 after all? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif Maybe the first of 04? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif They may have to lock me in a rubber room by the time this thing arrives! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif I ordered this truck the first time (long story) on 10/22/03 seems like a lifetime ago.

That's a weird one all right.

3300 means it's going to be built that week.

I think 3400 means it's been built or maybe is being built, not sure, but the final assembly plants were closed 12-24-03 to 01-04-04 with production resuming on 01-05-04.

So in theory, you should have a VIN, but the date on the code reflects a day no trucks were built. Haven't you gotten any update from your dealer since Monday?

VooDoo and baimpala might have the rest of the codes, I only bothered with them through 3300 with my dealer and he's the one who mentioned 3400 meant it was built. There's also one according to a post meaning it's "bayed", one for been shipped and baimpala said he found out 5000 is delivered.

I wouldn't be able to stand it, I'd be on my dealer's porch waiting for him to open up and check the VOMS status of your order.

Can't really help out on this one. I did find out from my dealer that 5000 is delivered, but he didn't offer any other information on what other codes were available to him or what they meant. . . .

Okay here's the word I got from my dealer when talking about the process.

They refer to the various stages by number, I think that's a computer line code.

1. 1101 The dealer gets on his computer and orders the truck, if it meets the criteria for what's available he gets an order number before signing off.

2. 1100 The order is pre-accepted.

3. 2000 The order is accepted by GM.

4. 2500 The order is preferenced, in my case both the change to 2000 and 2500 happened on the same day.

5. 3000 The order is accepted by production control and issued a TPW, in my case that took two weeks to the day. Order changes can still be made at this point but it will delay the TPW, this is where my truck is now and it was ordered by the dealer 11-17-03. The initial TPW I got was for 1-12-04, but it was kicked back to 1-19-04 a week after it was first issued.

6. 3100 The order is committed to production, end of change window.

7. 3200 He couldn't remember what that means and mine hasn't gotten there yet.

8. 3300 The truck will build that week.

There may be other codes that one of the dealers could fill us in on, but that's what I was able to come up with in talking to the dealer just now. Your question prompted me to call him since he's been talking about these numbers and stages of the order process all along, but I never paid a lot of attention to it.

Hope it helps.

edit info: I forgot your other question and you'll love the answer... GM shuts down between Christmas and New Year's.... My dealer wasn't sure exactly how many days it would be either, it could start before Christmas or end after New Year's sometime.....

Godfreys,

Here are the rest of the codes that Zeeb previously posted in case you are still looking for them.

Thanks Guys. I called the Dealership today only to find that my salesmans vacation turned sick time just became "Peter no longer works here" so I guess i'll be calling the sales manager next.

I'm hoping to hear something soon from Howard so that I will know when my truck will arrive since I no longer have a sales man looking out for it. I'll be glad when this whole process is over. Then i start shopping in ernest for a new fifth wheel (after I sell my old camper).

Hopefully some time this spring I'll be able to sit by a campfire drinking a few beers and admire my new toys.

Waiting is hell.

Godfreys,

Sorry I can't help you out either. Since I received my build date from GM, I've kinda left my dealer alone. I think I will give him a call just to get an update though.

Godfreys,

Talked to the dealer today, he called and I was hoping it was with news mine had gone to 3300, but just another 3100 showed up. I asked him about the 3400 and he said it means the truck is being shipped. Couldn't tell me if that means in GM's yard, the railcar or where, just that it's being shipped.

So if you've got a 3400, I'd say that means it's been built and is in the shipping process. Wonder if they shipped things while the assembly plant was closed, or if it sat there till last Monday?

Godfreys,

Did you ever find out where your truck is?

I found out yesterday that my truck was "3400 broadcast" so the dealer called GM to find out what that was since the dealer VOMS is up to 48 hrs. behind the actual event.

GM guy said that meant it was being built and he had a partial serial number, BUT, he also said "there's very little chance it could be kicked back a week at this point". That wasn't something I wanted to hear. I've not waited as long as you have, but I'm into this two months now and I'm getting close to the "rubber room" syndrome as well...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

The possibility that it could still be kicked back hadn't even entered my mind once it went 3400, but that was based on my understanding of the event codes, and it did not "make my day".

Hey Zeeb, I'm starting to think this thing might actually be real!

My dealer still hasn't been much help as the salesman quit so now I'm dealing directly with the finance guy.

However! A "Little Birdie" has informed me that my truck is in fact built and on its way. Left the Pontiac plant on a train last friday. He even got me some tracking info so I can keep tabs on it. Last word it is due to arrive at the train station in my area tomorrow so being the eternal optimist I'm thinking I might be driving it early next week! All I can say is I hope this truck lasts as long as the wait feels!

Good luck with yours, I'll keep you posted.

I originally received a TPW of 01-26-04. The truck was ordered and picked-up by GM on 12-16-03. I called the dealer today and the TPW was moved up to 01-19-04. It seems that date holds sway with more than one future truck owner on this site. Maybe due to the holidays it slowed some and then moved others faster once the production started up again.

You Crew Cab guys getting trucks from Flint have all the luck.... Is it a "bowtie" or a GMC?

Seems like us GMC or anything built in Pontiac guys, the RC's and EC's, are having a lot longer wait......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Zeeb,

I have the bowtie on order. Yes, it does seem the CC's and Chevy's have a higher priority. I believe Chevy sells more trucks than GMC, which could be the reason(?).

I am willing to bet that you will be one of the first LLY'ers. Give us a full report when you get her!

OH YES....

We have a new previously unknown event code "3800 Produced" AND IT COMES WITH A SERIAL NUMBER........http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

It's been built. Hope Howard is around to help with where it's at now. Dealer says he can flag it to follow the process, so one way or the other I might be able to follow it to the local railhead. Dealer is already talking about going up there to retrieve it when it comes in, it's about 35 miles from here and beats waiting for transport company to get a trailer load for this area......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Okay guys, just got back from another eventful trip to the dealer. I went over there to drop off the DuraFlaps (Kaydenco) because they've got a guy who's going to do the boards, bed rail caps, mouldings, cold front, etc. and he had more NEW CODES.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Some of these codes show up multiple times, and not necessarily in the numerical order, but on the same day when that happens.

So here are the latest ones:

4000 = Available to ship

4150 = Original invoice

4B00 = Bayed

The "Bayed" one showed up on another post here and we didn't know what it meant, so my dealer called GM. It means the truck is in one of the parking lots at the factory. Now here's the part we couldn't understand about the "Bayed" code. That could be almost any combination of letters and numbers on your particular order, but it will always be followed by the word "Bayed". The reason is because that is the lot number at the final assembly plant where your truck is parked. It's for the transport company to be able to locate it.

The other good thing about the dealer calling this afternoon, we found out my truck got put on a railcar and shipped out at 04:20 this morning.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I suspect Dr. Howard may have had something to do with that since he said he'd get it prioritized when he called me yesterday. Thanks Howard.

GM says 5 to 7 days to get to the local railhead (not bad considering it's got to get from Pontiac to Salt Lake City) where my dealer is going to pick it up rather than wait for the local transport company to bring it down.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

End of next week or first part of the following week and the fun begins.... Now, how far is it to Edge again? Oh yeah, about 75 miles.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, but my truck is here! It is awesome! I absolutely love it. The LLY is strong. Only 350 miles on it so far, but haven't found anything I don't like yet. This truck is amazing. I have never been this giddy about a new vehicle before. . . More details to follow.

BTW, it took exactly 10 days to ship from production to Western Washington, where I'm stationed. I was able to pick it up the same day it arrived at the dealer.

After driving it a week in about 40-50 degree weather, I can say the wait to start light stays on for less than one second in the morning and probably only two to three tenths of a second if I start it after only a few hours not running. I'm getting 17.3 MPG right now in city, but not stop and go traffic. It gets an over the rails Linex Saturday and then sometime next week the fifth wheel hitch goes in. I'm not sure I can be away from it long enough to install the hitch, which is why the Linex goes in Saturday. . . baby steps.

I'll let you know more later. This thing is a BEAST!

SonnyBear,

It's a Chevy 2500HD LT CC LB LLY/A 4x4, Black. Filled up for the first time last night and noticed the fill neck was a much larger diameter than a gas fill neck, now I'm wondering if the fill neck is sized for big rig fill stations. Another thread here discussed, I'll have to go back and check it out. So far this tank, I'm getting about 20.5 MPG just driving around mixing city/highway (60-65).

That would be a 11 week build time. That seems about right. The TPW seems soon but maybe GM is pumping them out faster now. I was at 8 weeks on 1-19-04 (Monday). It seems strange that it would take 4 weeks from the build week to get it to the dealer.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I hope I get mine sooner than 2-24-04. I was thinking mine would be here the first week in Feb. I called my dealer last Friday and still has not been able to help (LAZYYYYYYYYYY).

Hi Voodoo,

My Dealer told me the same thing about the delivery time. He told me that a 4week delivery time is what they tell customers, because at times it has taken this long. He also stated it may be in quicker than that, but he justed wouldn't want me to get to excited ( to late for that... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif ) TPW 02/09/04. My dealer has been doing this for over 25yrs that I know of, and seems like a very straight forward person. He did say quite a few years back that their was a blizzard that hit the lot were they store these vehicles, and some that were built weren't shipped for over a month & a half due to the problems associated with shoveling them out ( identifiying VIN# that needed to be shipped to the same general location ) these would be the vehicles shipped by tractor trailer. I don't know how they are shipped to Florida, but just thought I would shed some light on the subject. Hope this helps. I feel yours and others waiting pain.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Zeeb

Hey VooDoo,

It shouldn't take a month, but it could and that's why they tell you that as Fran said.

Mine got to the railhead this morning about 02:00, thanks Howard!!!!

It was built 01-15-04 and shipped the next day. Not sure if Howard did that, the dealer did it (he called and had it "Red Flagged") or if that's normal. But I think that's on the quick side. One of the members gave some areas where they were shipped OTR versus rail, and I believe yours will go rail.

The dealer was going to go get it, but he can't tell me if the front of the rear fenders have that vinyl protection stuff on them that they used to be shipped with. Since it's about 60 miles, I told him not to go after it unless it had that. With all the grit, salt and stuff on the roads around here from it being Winter, the front of the rear fenders would really get beat up from stuff thrown by the front tires.

So he's going to call the railhead this morning and see how long it'll be getting here if they'll tell him. I'll let you know, but it looks like the original 10 day time frame we've talked about will be right on.

Voodoo
01-23-2004, 09:49 AM
I can deal with 10 days. Come to think of it I have no choicehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif. You must be going nuts now Zeeb.

Zeeb
01-23-2004, 05:22 PM
Nuts isn't the word for it right now.

I wonder if there is an event code for "Delayed by Union Pacific"?

The local company who handles the OTR stuff from the railhead has about 20 railcars full of new vehicles sitting outside the fence to their facility. One of those railcars has my truck on it.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Now here's the rub, they can't get Union Pacific to push the railcars into their yard so they can unload them, this makes me quite upset......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

My dealer is trying though. He already had GM "Red Flag" this thing which is supposed to expedite delivery and allows tracking of the shipment. He's called GM twice today. They've upgraded the process to something over the "Red Flag" and they've been on the phone to Union Pacific as well as the local shipping company. There's not many companies in the world who could get the railroad boys to do anything, but hopefully GM is one of them. Since there are so many, it's no doubt affecting other dealers as well as mine. So it's in GM's best interest to find out what's going on.

Dealer is afraid to call the railhead folks again today since he's stirred up quite a hornet's nest, so he told me he'd call again tomorrow and see if he can find out when it's going to get off the train.

Having my truck this close and can't get it is way worse than it's been so far. Maybe I'm just getting too antsy the longer this goes on.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

I called my dealer yesterday and he already has the invoice. The build date on my truck was 01-21 and it was shipped yesterday, 01-23. Transit time is expected to be 7 days. Chevy starts charging the dealership interest on the truck next Friday the 30th, so the dealer and I have a mutual goal of getting the truck in my hands as soon as possible. I will pay for the truck by 2-2-04 regardless to take advantage of the bonus cash right now, unless some major delay occurs. This is the first time I have ordered from the factory and if I take delivery late next week or thereabouts, the total time will be around 6-7 weeks. Can't complain about that!

Hang in there everyone who is waiting, pretty soon the wait will be over.

Ah the wonders of dealing with a shipping company.

My truck came in to the railhead Thursday night about midnight. Dealer tried to get it delivered Friday or Saturday. Even called GM. According to the tracking info, it was unloaded from the railcar Saturday night.

Sunday morning, five new Denali's were delivered to the dealer. By the same company who has my truck, but no truck.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Dealer called them this morning again. Guy said yes it was here. Dealer asked him if it wasn't red flagged (requests expedited delivery) by GM? Guy says "Oh yeah, it's red all over the papers". Dealer asked him when they'd bring it down. Guy replies "Oh, we'll get it there".

So it looks like we pi**ed off some flunky and now he's going to show us. Man if I could get my hands on that jerk I'd show him pi**ed off....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

I told him I don't give a damn about warranty purposes, I want Dent Master to fix it, Union Pacific is paying for it and I've seen Dent Master's work, they are a known quantity. I told my salesman, the Service Manager disappeared, that if his body shop does this and I see any irregularities in that fender (it's the right rear fender), they'll replace the whole thing.

That sucks............

Well the 3 dents in my truck were all self inflicted......I learned to live with them, although I don't like them.

Good Luck........

It's here......

I posted to another thread with a pic. This will be my last entry for this thread. Diesel Power has agreed to post a list of the codes I've gotten through this process. It's going to take me a day or two putting it together, but I'll get it sent in. Hopefully that will allow others to track their trucks....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

That is fast, 6 weeks 6 days! the Vin #'s must be close, we will all find out soon!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Mine left GM via truck this past Thrusday and is on her way. I went to the dealer and got all the paper work settled before the rebates ended.

I went to the dealer yesterday and signed off to take advantage of the $3000 rebate, too. I must admit I was a little hesitant because the truck had not arrived at the dealership yet. Just like to see what I am buying before I sign for it. But, the invoice was perfect, so it should be okay.

The dealer "flagged" it down at the railyards and expects delivery by this Wednesday. I ordered it 12-13-03, which makes it 7 weeks and 4 days if it arrives as scheduled.

I am taking a load of "goodies" down to the service department tomorrow for when she arrives. They should be done with her by next Saturday for pick-up.

VooDoo, SonnyBear,

It's getting CLOSER............

Congrats guys, you've almost made it, but it's going to get worse before you see them.....

I also signed the papers before the truck got here to get an extra $500.00 rebate that was expiring. I've never bought a truck I hadn't seen before, strange experience. I did tell the dealer he wouldn't be be getting the balance over the order deposit, until I picked up the truck.

SonnyBear,

I hope your "goodies" install goes better than mine did, despite all the planning and ordering things ahead of time, I still got glitches.

1. The cold front came and it's for a Chevy... GMC's the same right?

2. The mud flaps don't fit, had to buy the factory ones till we get this figured out.

3. The stainless bed rail caps don't fit the Dooley because they're wider in the middle of the cap. You just bend the inside out so they cover the outside edge right?

4. The stainless/black body side mouldings won't fit because the rear fenders have compound curves.

5. Still have to face off with the Service Manager who told me the rear differentials had not be been coming in low and that mine was okay.....It's low because it wasn't checked. The paint on the plug had not been scratched. Maybe they've got a wrench that leaves no marks on a bolt, but why didn't they fill it if they were in there? Near as I can tell, it's about 1.25 inches below the hole, it's tough to build a measure device for that.

Hope you guys get your's home without any hitches.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
