Converting my 97 Suburban to run on WVO and starting to work under the hood. Pulled the intake off which had loose bolts, and pulled the PMD off the IP in place. Used a metric allen key to get the screws out. Bottom 2 were a PITA, dropped the allen about 4 times and had to play "Operation" to get it out. It only has about 5K on it so I wanted to pull it out, and I wanted to get aquianted with my motor. Here are some pictures of my setup which is free heat sink, three mount screws through the front bumper right into the heat sink. All I really need to do now is make the extension cable. Should I use the silver/teflon wire like the factory used? Should I get 16 GA instead of the stock 18 GA to make up for the length of about 72"? Any help would be great! Ebay has 50' for about $17 after shipping. Nice thing about this mount and location is three screws and I can pull it out in about 2 minutes! Good placement. Use the 16 awg to reduce resistance in the extension, soder all wires and you'll stay happy with it.

Copper wire OK, or should I buy some teflon coated silver wire.

The silver colored wire is just plated copper but the teflon coating is tough as nails

I just ordered/won the 50' of silver wire on ebay for $17 which includes shipping. Going to play it safe and do what the factory did just so I have one less variable. It looks like the silver wire is used for communications like stuff, so maybe it helps with the signal. GM used it and so will I.

I'm near Burlington Vermont. Purchased my 6.5 Suburban just before snow fell last fall. Made it through the winter without any problems. Even started after sitting out in the work parking lot for 12 hours. Love the vehicle. Lots of luxury compaired to the 1976 Chevy K10 I had previous to it. Feels like I'm driving around on my couch. The independant front suspension rides real nice.

May have about 14' left over which I will most likely use somewhere else under the hood. Most of the times when I'm finished with a project I sell leftovers on ebay to recoup some of my expenses. This WVO is a big project. I'm spending to much $$

So I get my special silver wire this weekend and when I go to install it I notice that there is a connector that I can eliminate. It's the 4 wire connector to the IP. When I cut the connector out the other side of the connector has regular copper wire. Maybe there are certain applications for the pump that spec out the special wire. Maybe it's for the military Hum Vee's. Was able to do it with a 64" run.

Yeah, no teflon coated wires on my IP harness, just 18 awg copper wire. Put your ride in your sig, asnowsquall.
It's a ? ton 'burb with wvo conversion. I like wvo, btw.
