We were on our way home from Colorado this afternoon, and pulling a good grade near Santa Fe on US 285 (about 6-7%) with our 15,000 lb toyhauler in tow when "BAM" and no boost showing on the boost gauge. Scared the heck out of me. Lucky for me there was an exit that I could take and I pulled off and parked it...let it run for about 5 minutes to cool it down and then popped the hood for a look around. The upper clamp on the lower boost hose (near the intercooler on the passenger side) had come loose and the tube blew out of it:eek: . I had to remove the fender liner and luckily had the necessary tools to get it back on and tightened down good. I was making about 18-20 psi when it happened. Thought for a minute that I had blown something up):h but was relieved to see that it was just the boost tube clamp. Might be worth your time to give em all a quick twist with a socket to make sure they are all tight!
Thanks for the heads up. This and several other scenarios crossed my mind as I was chugging up Molas Pass at 11,230ft over the weekend.........-:t

They oughta move the guy from the oil filter tightening station to the intercooler fitting station. :ro)
Mine starting coming loose, which made a hissing sound while i was towing. The next day told wife to listen to this, it popped off and blew thick black smoke everywhere. She thought that was neat.... I was on my way to Church. Had to be there that day. should have seen me pulling into the crowded church parking lot blowing thick black smoke.

Sounds like step one on a new truck is to get it off the ground and have a good set of metrics handy. Nothin' like checkin every nut'n bolt right off the git-go. I HATE wrenchin' on the side of the road.

Another thing to check for. On the lower right intercooler hose, check to see if you are getting any oil leakage at the joint. Mine did, (Oil in the intake track is coming from the PCV vent). Took it to the dealer, there is a TSB on this problem. They clean out the hose and use sealant on the fitting and torque correctly. Nothing worse than a new truck that pisses on the driveway!
