: h2 rims with the stock center caps.....how did you do it?
moloss 02-12-2010, 05:37 PM well I have the h2 rims now and want to use the stock gm center caps on the h2 rims (like I've seen many of y'all do)......well the gm center caps won't reach the threads on the lug nuts.....how did y'all get the gm center caps to attach? thanks for any and all suggestions......Chris.
chvle66 02-12-2010, 05:53 PM Best is to use caps from new style 17" wheels, this will look best. Or you can cut the tabs and trim some plastic on yours.
eds04max 02-12-2010, 05:55 PM Look on the back of the cap.........remove the little black 'stand-off' buttons and you should have just enough.;)
biff10 02-12-2010, 09:01 PM I had to take off the taps then used a band saw to take off just a touch more..
moloss 02-12-2010, 09:07 PM would it/should it/could it make a difference that my gmc center caps are off my 04 3500 which is a 16x7 factor rim and these are 17's? I don't think it should but what do I know.....the factor center caps are oh so very close to fitting but don't.
eds04max 02-12-2010, 09:35 PM The center caps that I've used were 04'-ish PYO caps from a 2500. Mine would work without removing the tabs.......barely. With tabs removed, I had 3-4 threads on the plastic lug caps. Might be a difference in the 3500's????
I ain't never had a dually.:D
moloss 02-12-2010, 09:49 PM my 3500 is a srw....this is a pic with the current wheels and tires

NC Max 02-12-2010, 09:50 PM I used a Dremel with a cut-off wheel to remove the small black tabs. The caps bolt right up once you do that.
pitch black 02-13-2010, 06:58 PM any pics of the tabs to be cut off, i will be doing this soon
tytan 02-13-2010, 07:55 PM would it/should it/could it make a difference that my gmc center caps are off my 04 3500 which is a 16x7 factor rim and these are 17's? I don't think it should but what do I know.....the factor center caps are oh so very close to fitting but don't.
The 3500s have steel wheels and I believe the center caps are slightly different from the caps used on the PYO rims. On the PYO caps if you remove the standoffs the cap will sit closer to the wheel and allow more thread to grab. Get some 08 caps they look good on the H2s. Pics in my garage.
CSILVERADO 02-13-2010, 10:02 PM x2 , I have part #'s if you want them.
vertex 02-13-2010, 10:16 PM I used the center caps off a 2010 Chevy with the 17" aluminum rims. I cut the taps off that are inside next to the false lug nuts and I also used a router and router table to remove about 3/16 to 1/4 all the way around the outside lip. Removing the tabs and removing the material around the outside lip will allow the false lug nuts to engage. I have the boulder H2 rims but the same procedure applies to all the Hummer rims. I can take pictures of the modified caps if you want.

moloss 02-13-2010, 10:43 PM I'd love to see pics of the modified caps.......thank you very much......Chris.
vertex 02-13-2010, 11:04 PM I will take one off tomorrow and snap a few pictures.
drew1234567 02-13-2010, 11:21 PM NBS caps fit H2's with no modifications and look better than the PYO's.

That looks very good! I like those wheels.
magnetic 02-14-2010, 09:41 AM I did my PYO caps yesterday. I used some advice I saw in another thread. I cut the tabs off first, then laid the caps on a flat surface. Took a Sharpie and laid it down on the table spinning the cap to allow the sharpie to make a line all the way around. We have a sander on a stand and I just sanded to the line, fit perfect!
moloss 02-14-2010, 10:00 AM It's snowing so hard this morning (for Alabama anyways) we didn't go to church so maybe I'll head out to the shed and see what I can mess up:D.
moloss 02-14-2010, 11:51 AM ok so I went out to the shed and got out my 3500 center caps I had in a box, well there was 5 of them and thats when I remembered I had one from my 03 2500....great I'll have one to practice on! well I layed them all out on the shop table and that's when I noticed that one was shorter than the others.....guess what the 2500 center cap fit perfectly and the 3500 caps are about 1/4 inch or so wider and taller (only because of a greater circumference)....so I'm not crazy! everybody was saying just trim the tabs and they will fit fine (and that's true for 2500) but the 3500 are different.....so I'll just have to use the grinder to get it down to size and I'll be set......thanks so much for everybodies help.:)
vertex 02-14-2010, 08:03 PM A little late but here are a few pictures of my caps.

moloss 02-14-2010, 08:41 PM thank you.....
turboG 02-15-2010, 12:15 AM My stock '06 centers fit w/o any modification.....
vertex 02-15-2010, 09:15 AM I tried to put my center caps on before I did any modifications and I could only screw the lug nut caps on maybe 1/2 a turn. They might have stayed on the wheel but with the modifications I now get 4 or 5 turns on the lug nut cap.
rcpd34 01-02-2011, 07:20 PM Tried using my '08 gray center caps to see if they would work. My thinking was if they did, I would order chrome ones. I have Boulder rims. They didn't fit. As expected, the false lug nuts won't catch. So, took a cut-off wheel and cut off the stand-off's. No dice. They still won't fit. Then I got a PYO center cap. Same thing. I can't take off the needed 1/8" all around the bottom because the metal chrome tabs are in the way and if you grind them the chrome part of the cap will fall off. I suppose I could bend it back, grind the plastic and put the tabs back, but dunno if that will work. Any ideas?
Theicor 01-03-2011, 01:36 PM I'm in the same boat as "rcpd34". I just installed my new speedline/boulder rims over the weekend and the caps are not even close to getting the lugnuts to thread. Need new ideas. This is on a '06 LBZ 2500...
Thanks!

They are different than pyo center caps.
My 05 3500 srw center caps wouldn't fit my H2 wheels so I just bought some PYO center caps and trimmed off the "stand offs" with a cut off wheel on my die grinder. Fit perfect after that and my stock cneter caps are still unchanged for when I run the steel wheels in the winter.

That's exactly what I did. Bent the chrome metal tabs back to allow for access to the plastic part. I used a pair of tin snips to cut 1/4" off the cap, then bent the metal tab back over. Worked like a charm!!
Rebelchevy87 01-05-2011, 01:56 PM I was able to use my stock 06' PYO centers on my H2's without modification and I have yet to have one even come loose.
rcpd34 01-05-2011, 02:16 PM It seems apparent the H2's are not an issue, but the Boulders are as they are thicker.
