: The lights are out, and I cant see!
Guipo 06-20-2005, 06:27 PM Ok, problem of the week. why cant things just work like they are supposed to.
Ok, I was just driving out of my driveway last night, and the lights just shut off. No turn signals, dash lights, brake lights, headlights, hazards, etc.
Would that be a relay that would make that all go out? Which one. My relays arnt exactly attached to anything, so how can I tell which one?
Or is it just a fuse. Thanks again guys!

mangus580 06-20-2005, 07:12 PM any chance you bumped the blackout light switch? drop me an email, we can discuss it more if need be.
Guipo 06-20-2005, 07:22 PM That would be a good description, but its never worked before. That would be kinda neat if it started working again. :)
mangus580 06-20-2005, 07:26 PM hmm, you mean the switch never did anything before? the right hand of the 2 is supposed to be in the up position, otherwise... LIGHTS OUT! :D
I think there is maybe a couple of latching relays that control all of that, I am not positive. but my guess is, its the blackout wiring that has caused your problem in one way or another.
Texas Diesel Guy 06-20-2005, 09:34 PM Get your NVGs out and see if the IR lights are on ;)
mangus580 06-20-2005, 10:52 PM actually TDG, if they are functional, you can see them after dark. They arent really an IR light, so much as just really low wattage, just enough to be seen from the ground, and very short distances.
If anyone is interested, I can try to explain the function of them.
Guipo 06-21-2005, 10:59 AM hahaha...Hey I'd like to know all the nooks and cranny's of my truck. I dont have a diagram of which fuses do what, but I found a 30 blown, replaced it with another 30(I have no clue what I deavitivated), and I have lights. The reason it blew what I shorted a positive on my tow wiring. So problem solved. Lets hear it for checking the most obvious thing first! Hooray!
mangus580 06-21-2005, 02:06 PM my guess is, its the fuse that controls the blackout system.
Thats good to know too.... better not short my trailer wiring after dark!!!
Fred482` 06-22-2005, 10:18 AM Whew! I thought, for a minute, somebody hired Joseph Lucas, the "prince of darkness" to design the new electrical systems for our vehicles!!
Once in a great while, my old '65 Triumph Bonneville still "shuts off the lights" on a lonely, winding country road at night!!!
