I know for a fact that the pre '98 old body style trucks came with Bilstein shocks (I owned a '98 since new). And they are great, I got a new body style '99 Z71 and it has red shocks on it, definately not bilsteins, or are they? Dude at work says all Z71's come with them. They got 70k on them and I was contemplating puttin some new stein's on it. I guess my question is what do the new body Z71's come with for shocks? Cause they all got red shocks on them!

I had a 99.5 Z71 and they were not Bilsteins. If they were, they were way too stiff and I thought they were black. I could corner through any turn like a sports car because they were so stiff but it suffered everywhere else. After one of my OEMs starting leaking, I changed over to Bilsteins. I liked the ride allot better. It didn't corner like sports car but it did ride more like a Cadillac.

I am about to change my 3500 Duramax over to Bilsteins......everone says they are the shiznit. I can' wait!!!

The '99 Z71 that I traded off came new from the factory with fantastic Tenneco shocks on it. They weren't worth the metal used to make them. It seems like they were red metal lowers with black plastic tops. They got replaced with Bilsteins.

Yea, the front end is a little bouncy, no leaks yet. Anyone know if the old body style bilsteins will fit the new body trucks? I know the fronts are different but how about the rears? Seems I remember them mounting different at the top!?
