BigWill,

IIRC, DieselPlace member 'robby' initially made the blocker plate the finger hole. I am not sure if anyone is currently making this version. You might do some digging through the DP archives I believe the pattern for the finger hole version was posted.

As far as the additional gasket goes, I did not use one on mine and it sealed up fine.

HTH.

Some plate history and the template is listed in the DIY HERE (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24719) . As far as the gasket, I don't think they are needed. I don't use one and haven't had a problem in over 10k now.

I think a forum user named 'reliver' made the one I have.

Only reason I can think you might want the finger hole is to make it easy to remove before going to the dealer. I have the Kroutman non-finger hole plate. Have taken it to the dealer a number of times and they have never said anything or even noticed.

The gasket number is 97328807, available from your GM parts dealer for around 5 to 8 dollars.

Reliver made the one I have. It is a quality stainless part and has the hole you are talking about. You don't need a gasket, slip in the plate on the EGR cooler side and leave the stock gasket between the plate and the exhaust tube. Easy install, use two wrenches and maybe a screwdriver to pry the gap enough to slip it in. I did mine on the way to a dinner date, truck was cold took maybe 10 minutes.:ro)
