Hey all,
I a newby on the forum and have been reading and reserching diesel truck for some time now and have a question for everyone. I'm buying a new used truck soon and being a Chevy guy of course I want to stay true but just can't afford a truck with the dmax so the 6.5 would be the one. Now the big question is, reading about all the problemed history, but also the fixes and upgrades the 6.5 has, would it be better to wait awhile for money and get a dmax or can I get a 6.5 with upgrades to suit my needs. I want a diesel for upgrading travel trailer to 9000 pounder , longvity and because of better mileage then I'm getting now. It just seem to me I can buy a 3/4 w/6.5 all day long with 100,000 mile for 12,000 to 14,000 in great shape and add 1500 to 2000 in upgrades and I'll have a great runner for a long time , interested to Know from you guys if i'm right or all wet .

Find a Dodge engine and tranny combo and stick it in a Chevy. Power, durability, and economy all in one and still drive a Chevy.

I just bought a 2001 2500HD 4x4 Damx crewcab w 123,000 for 18,000. Hearing what you are looking for i would get the Dmax. I have a 6.5 in a Scout, but it will never tow and is not near the weight of a 7200lb pickup. I like the 6.5TD but would not trust it to tow the loads a Dmax will. Just my 2 cents...good luck with your choice....either way , welcome to the forum..
