I've got a 2004 Sierra Denali Quadrasteer with the 6.0 gas engine. its a great truck. i love the engine for what it is. but i've had enough of gas and want a diesel truck. The truck itself is in great shape, but its out of warranty, so I'm free to do whatever I please, and I would like a duramax/alison in it. I know the cost is going to be startling.. But I dont want a new truck, the quadrasteer has been great for towing. now its time to step it up to a real hauler.

who, what, where? I need an engine engine trans maybe a transfer case, who's got them? who's done this, i know my body style has the durmax, just not in the quadrasteer denali. that's why i want. the duramax denali. point me in the right direction. thanks.

I find alot of my used parts off CarPart.com That site will show you alot of junk yards all over the country. It would probaly be good to find a wrecked truck somewhere close so you can get everything in one place.

oh man. I dont know if the front end would be stong enough. you would have to for sure give it a body lift to clear the transmission bellhousing.

Ive seen someone do this on another site. Sorry if this is against the rules but, it might have been on gmfullsize. He had a couple duramax quadsteers, they were 3/4tons.

If you stay stock the rear axle MIGHT hold bu but if ya start adding power I'd be pretty scared of it shelling out :(

your gona need to get the Rad support out of a 2500 HD, a 3" body lift, you could cut it down to 2 3/8" or just put it in as is, then the bumper mounts will work.
the rear diff should be ok if its the 14 bolt 9 1/2" but i wouldn't be putting anything over stock power through it.
you'll have to build plates to get the motor to line up. you'll have to use the 6.0L motor mounts as they are a bit diff from the 6.6L
and they you'll have to make a tranny mount, as the allison is longer.
as for the wireing, you'll need the under hood fues block, the wireing for the motor / trans/ t-case. everything from the cab stays the same, and just plugs into the fues block under hood.
you'll need to remove the TAC moduel from the fire wall and just plug the connector into the diesel side of the harness.
Best way to do everything is lift off the box and cab. makes life soooooo much easyer.
if you can get a Ext cab doner truck, then you won't need to cut fuel lines much if any.
the fuel cooler bolts right up to where the Evap canister is.
and cange the fuel sender in the tank, or just swap tanks.
easy peasy

You would be better off buying a truck of the same year due to wiring changes.

Contact this guy: theTDIguy (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/member.php?u=80590)

He's done a ton of duramax/suburban conversions and can probably save you a lot of time & money since he knows exactly what needs to be changed and everything else.

I'm gonna have to agree with the other two that mentioned concern for the rear-end in your truck. It would be very cool though!

I put a LB7 and Allison in a 03 reg cab short box 4x4 truck. it sounds hard, but after doing it, its realy not, the only thing to build is the motor mount plates and the tranny mount. everything else bolts into place.
