I have new ecm stock tune dpf/egr delete from one of the vendors on this board. He told me that with a stock tune I would not have to worry about egr.
However I suspect just based on the color and smell of my oil that it is still working some.
Is this possible and how do I know for sure?
I am comparing this to a cummins that has 300,000 plus miles on it and a 6.2 that has about 70,000 miles on it.
In the dodge with city driving my oil begins to discolor about 1,000 miles and is black by 2,000. Highway driving including trailer towing mileage is about doubled before oil turns black.
In the 6.2 oil turns black quickly, kind of expected.
With the dmax oil turns black by 1,000 city or highway and by 3,000 begins to smell bad. Not as bad as before the egr/dpf delete but it is not where I want it. At 4,000 after towing on highway for most of the miles it is pretty nasty and this is with a premium oil (schaeffers). Is it possible that egr is still working?
I have a blocking plate on the way. Just wanted an opinion I will post my results blocking plate installation and an oil change.
