Im gonna be pulling my truck at the county fair next month and I have a few questions. Im running 285 Nitto's, predator, Green Perfomance air filter and 4in dual exhaust on my lly. What level should I set it on with my predator? I just got the predator and havent pulled a trailer with it yet because of a lack of pyrometer. Im hoping to have one before the pull though. From reading other threads, it looks like 4lo 3rd is the best gear for the allison, is this true? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Set your Predator for the highest level it has. not sure what that is for a lly. Also drop the T-bars all the way down, clamp the rear leafs if you have time. shift in to 4low in 3rd T/M. after you pull the slack out of the chain and you get a green flag, don't just hammer down... once you get the sled moving a little then hammer down ):h and don't let up until it stops you. speed is your friend... make sure you let it run for a good 15 mins after your pull to cool down.:D

What county fair are you pulling in?

Are you sure about that? It doesn't appear that he has any trans mods. Could be playing with fire here.

You have to remember you are in low range... that reduced the stress on the trans buy about 2 times, with gear reduction. I pulled many times Stacked with a stock trans. Lots of other people here have also. its comes down to what you feel safe with though. I would not think Twice about it, something else will give first... like tierods, drivelines, or CV's unless you do something stupid... I have been to tons of pulls and can say maybe 2-3 trans have gone out that I have seen... two Dodges and a couple of th-350's on the little gas trucks.. and thats normaly broken input shafts or the driveline taking out the cooler lines. nothing that a Mod Trans would have helped with.

Many people have pulled with stock tranny. I'm stacked and still on stock tranny. There's a guy around here with a stacked w/ nitrous and he's still on a stock tranny. The transfer case is a 3:1 reduction which helps it out.

Well I pulled for the first time today and it didnt go so good. I pulled 218 ft. I ran my Predator on 100HP (this was the first time its been off of 65HP). I didnt have time to crank the t bars down. I pulled in 4lo 3rd gear. I got the sled movin pretty good then about 3/4 of the way I let up on the trottle a hair because the track was rough and when I mashed on it again, the rpms fell to 2000 and wouldnt go any higher. What happened???? Naturally the sled stopped. After watchin the video, there was absolutely NO SMOKE WHATSOEVER. Not even a puff on the start. On 65HP it smokes so whats the deal??? A LB7 bone stock, tires and all, pull 223ft. What did I do wrong?

Also, the truck weighed in at 7940 lbs in an 8000 lb class. Cant get much closer than that. I think there were around 20 trucks in my class and I didnt even get the top 10. Please help.

By the way: my dad got 7th with his dually. He pulled 258 ft. He would have done a lot better but he tried to start off in 4th gear and then had to pull it down into 3rd.
