I have a 05 lly so i have a 6 in and 315 75 16s. I just want to gain the little hp i lost with the tires. I also want to adjust the tire size for the computer. I dont want to remotely chance screwing my new tranny up so what do you recomend? I heard the predator makes high turbo rating or something to that effect."im new to diesel". hypertech? any info would help thanks

I run HyperTech. I run it on level 3 since I got it. Not one problem and feel that its safe on the tranny due to the fact that the troq on Level 3 isnt too much. I feel that its a great product and so it Predator. The Predator gives a lot more HP/torq in levels 2 & 3 but very hard on the stock tranny. Also, Predator remove speed limiter and can display live data. Both of the units change tire size and read/ clear codes.

The issue you heard regarding the predator was high egt's - exhaust gas temps. If egt's get too high you can damage your turbo. There is a separate post here regarding this. It seems that there are some changes that will be made to the tune in a couple of weeks that will address this.

If you get any tuner or chip you should get and egt guage. If youare really worried about damaging the engine or trans you should get the edge / attitude. It will automatically back off if it senses egt's getting too high or sees the trans slipping. The price to buy and install the predator and boost and egt guages vs. the edge / attitude are not that far apart.

I have not really heard any bad things about the hypertech but have heard a lot of people recommending the predator. The predator seems to be the preferred tuner here. I've been thinking about what to get for a while now so have been doing a lot of reading.

I have on 05 with Hypertech in stage 3 and its great. No problems yet, but my truck only has 2000 miles on it. My truck is lifted 6' and has 35's with 18 inch rims. Runs like a champ. Averaging just at 18 miles a gallon in city.

We don't sell the Hyper here at DPPI, we do sell the Pradator, Edge Bully Dog and van Aaken. The Predator gets you full diagnostics, more HP levels, and on line down loading for new programs. For the money it's the best value out there.

As someone else said unless you plan the get the Edge Juice Attitude, or Bully Dog Power Pup with Outlook monitor that get you the gauge packages you NEED a pyro to monitor the EGT's, you'd be surprised at how hot a stock truck can be with a big load and a good incline etc.
