Had code p0743. I know what the code is but still have questions. Driving truck to work this am and when i got to the my turn off the ses light came on but truck ran and shifted perfect. Got to conveniance store and left truck running because it was cold as hell. Light was still on. Got back into truck to go on to work and went to put it into reverse and had nothing and got the shift range inhibited in the driver info area. I shut the truck off for about a minute or so and started it back up, put it into reverse and it worked but still had the ses. Drove to work, truck shifted perfect. Got to work shut it off, sat there a minute, started it up and ses light was gone and it went right into gear. After work went out and started truck about 10 minutes before i left to let it warm up and the light was back on. When i left it went right in gear and i drove home and it shifted perfect. Could this be because its so cold or something else, its just weird that it works perfectly other than the one time shift range inhibited problem. I cleared the code and will let you know if it comes back. Any other ideas?

I think i have it narrowed down to the NSBU switch. Truck has not thrown the p0743 code again. The day it threw the code it done it while in overdrive which would involve the TCC solenoid. The truck has flashed the shift range inhibited message in the driver info area but only after driving to work and putting it in park. When it does this the ses light has never came on and you can shut the truck off, start it back up and it will go right in gear. It only throws the shift range inhibited in the info center in the morning and won't do it again all day. The truck runs and shifts perfect all the time, i even beat on it a little today and never a wimper. I guess when it gets cold at night next week, close to zero out we will see what it does and go from there. It did not throw the shift range inhibited in the info center this morning and it was about 33 degrees out, seems to be cold weather related to me as it was in the teens in the morning all week except today. Anyone else had anything like this?

This happened to me. I replaced the TCM solenoid inside the tranny and no problems since. I changed the nsbu switch first and still had the code.
