Do the return nipples on the injectors need to line up in a horizontal line??? I used a injector socket and did not pay attention to orientation, some do not line up in a nice horizontal line. Is this a big deal???

Its easier but I don't think it has to be.

Nipples are nice when lined up.... But I've seen some pretty bad implants:eek:
Your motor looks so fine a little nipple mis-alignment won't matter.....;)
That's the advantage of having pretty face..... just waiting to hear your babies voice......:D

mmmm lined up nipples...

as we age, and get worked on... expecting everything to be where we want it is just going to disappoint us... get used to wear and tear.
as long as it don't leak it's all good!

I had no idea that one comment would create such a huge derailment and such infantile discussion.

you guys are the ones who make others disbehave! so what was the conclusion on the injector nipples? they could be anywhere right? im pretty sure that was it.

Morning Brent, the alignment of the injector over-fuel tubes (surplus fuel orifices, injector fuel return exit tubes....) is not important in this application. They have a copper sealing washer, and this requires the injector to be torqued to 50 ft-lbs, to minimize the potential of improper sealing issues.:)

We use minimal anti-seize on threads, attention not to contaminate the sealing washer ( stuff tastes terrible and its so close to those fuel return line injector exit orifice thingies).:D

yea i didnt figure it mattered since mine are all over the place. 1 might be horizontal but thats it. would be nice if the ones on the passenger side are horizontal because i wouldnt have to tie the return hoses up in so many places to keep them off the turbo manifold.

yeah, my problem was torquing them to 50lbs then trying to have them line up.

BTW, I am a teacher (high school continuation) and you all have detention!

Nipples are fun. :D

I'm sure, before this is over, that someone will begin machining different thickness copper sealing washers. We did this with spark plug washers on race engines years ago. Then they'll package and sell an assortment to allow "indexing" the nozzles thus lining up all the return fuel hoses. I hope it doesn't cause fuel distribution problems due to change in depth of the nozzle.

If that happens, Fred, it means people are entirely too concerned with the orientation of their nipples. In my opinion, so long as the nipples aren't leaking, the location of one nipple in relation to another is not a concern.

That is, of course, assuming that the nipples are not so far off from "standard" that you have trouble reaching them...while "working"....erm...
