I'm wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to put an older Allison from like an old school bus onto a mechanical 6.5L Turbo Diesel? I've heard that you will have to put a TPS onto either the foot pedal or on the mechanical injection pump. Is there anything else that needs to be done, such as an adapter plate being machined???? Let me know, thanks

I remember when I was kid the big yellow bus I rode on was automatic and had a GM 6.5 diesel in it. I imagine it was and allison. But there shouldn't be any real problem with doing this. You MIGHT need an adapter kit but, the TPS thing you ask about kinda makes me wonder what you consider old.

Four Allison speed is a non overdrive trans. Really no advantage over a THM 400. A 4L80e is a waaayyy better application for the long haul!!.

the allison 1000 found behind the d-max will bolt up. the only issue is the electronics.
gm did not change bellhousing patterns since the small block was introduced in the 50s.
hell u COULD theoretically bolt up an allison to a gm 4.3 v6.

on the allison 1000, what side does the shaft come out of on the transfer case, driver or passenger side? if it comes out on the drivers side, can you take a t-case from an old GM truck that comes out on the passenger side and bolt it up to the allison 1000?
