My truck is a 2004 3500 dually, with a 6.6L Duramax LB7.
I just bought it in November. I cannot say enough good about this truck, except that I ask myself why I waited so long to get one.
When I bought it, it was a higher mileage truck that was well maintained.
It came with an Air Raid intake, Edge Juiced with Attitude and a 4" performance exhaust. It was used by an older fellow who used it for travelling. He had explained that with the performance mods added, had paid for themselves in a short time with the mileage increase he got from them.
I have found this truck to be even better on fuel than my 2006 Chevy Uplander!
The only thing with it, is that the check engine light is on. It was scanned and the mechanic said it was a code that was related to Air Induction. He cleared it and it went away, but would then come back on. It has been that way since I purchased it. I was told that it is cause because of the after market air intake system and not to worry too much about it.
My On-Star diagnostic report came in as fault with Air Induction, Ignition System, Emission Control Sytem.
Could this all be related the the add on performance parts?

Normally that would indicate a malfunction with the mass airflow sensor. Try unplugging it and cleaning the plug contacts. If that doesn't fix it then pull the sensor and clean it. Make sure the o-ring on the sensor is in place. I had the same problem with an afe cold air stage 2 and this fixed it.

Thanks.
I will look into that and try it. I take it that it is the rectangular sensor in the air intake tube that is connected to the throttle body?

Matt.

Well, I removed the sensor and cleaned it well with contact cleaner. It was pretty black and fouled up. The contact cleaner washed it away pretty good. I have reinstalled it and I don't know if it is just in my head, but the truck does seem to be allot more smoother while driving and when it is shifting.
The check engine light is still on and I suppose it is just a matter of time before it will reset itself?
Thanks again for the help and input.

im sure it did smooth out your truck. a dirty MAFS will cause a lot of problems.

you could run your truck down to the local parts store (autozone, napa, etc) and they should have a code reader so you can clear the CEL

I think that if you disconnect the batteries for 30 seconds it will clear the codes.

Yes, that works too, but if there is a large fault that still hasn't been fixed, the light will stay on. I replaced my thermostat on my 02 gasser b/c it was stuck open and could not get the light to go off. The new thermostat was stuck shut and made my temps go up really high just driving down the street..
