OK well I was driving down the road with less that a 1/4 tank of fuel and truck died. It wouldn't start and then added about 8 gallons of fuel to the tank and still nothing. I can hear the fuel pump prime up but when I go to start it nothing so i'm not sure what to do that's why i'm asking the best !

I hate when that happens.
They are going to start asking you for all the particulers about your truck. You know what kind of mod's you had done to it, when you last changed your fuel filter, etc.

What fuel pump are you hearing? From what little I know... very little... there is no fuel pump in a Duramax equipped diesel.... I might be wrong.... but I'm not sure you're running a Duramax diesel if you "hear" a fuel pump "priming up".....

You have to manually prime your fuel filter if you run out of fuel. Look at your owners manual and look for priming the fuel filter. They give you step by step instructions. My next question is how long has it been since you changed your fuel filter? If you have never primed the filter before then that means you have never changed the filter. I change my filter every 10K miles. Others here change it less often. Either way, change the filter, prime it and you should be good.

X2. spend a few days looking around the LLY section and u will learn there a re few small tools to keep in your truck. An extra filter, filter tool and a flat head screw driver are a few of them items.
