How far can I turn up the pump on my M1009. It is a non-turbo engine. What should I look for when I do it? As of right now, I never get the 'black smoke' that most diesels exhibit. Even under heavy load it doesnt exist.

Turn it up until you get faint black smoke under hard acceleration.

No magic answer, depends on condion of the engine, intake and exhaust valve train etc. Model and condition of pump. Ballpark, 1/8th turn is usually more than enough. DB2s generally deliver less fuel as the get older, so turning it up a bit might just get you back to stock fuel quantity.
